Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, some individuals believe that competition at work, job, at school which is a good thing. Therefore, other people thoughts are that we should try to cooperate more, rather than competing against each other. In my opinion, cooperation is more important than competition because people can achieve greater things by working togethers. although competition can motivate individuals, too much competition may create jealousy and pressure.

On the one hand, some people of the nation thinks that competing in our daily working routine is a good thing because competition encuorages people to work harder and achieve their goals. When student compete with each other, they may study more seriously and get better marks. Similarly, employes who compete for promotions often try to improve their skills and perform better. For example, a student may spend more time studying to get the highest marks in the class. Therefore, competition can increase motivation and help people become successful.

On the other hand, some individuals of the people of the nation thinks that coperating with people is more good than competing because cooperation teaches people to work together and support each other. In schools, students can share their ideas and help their classmates understand difficult subjects. In the workplace, employees can complete tasks more quickly by sharing responsibilities. For instanxe, when students work on a group project, they can divide the work according to their abilities and achieve better results. Moreover, cooperation can build good relationships and reduce unnecesary stress.

In conclusion, competition can encourage people to improve their performance, whereas cooperation helps them develop there relationships and achieve common goals. I believe that cooperation should be given more importance, although healthy competition is also necessary in life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and state a consistent opinion: cooperation is more important, while healthy competition still has a role. The two body paragraphs give relevant reasons and examples, such as students studying harder to earn high marks and classmates sharing ideas on a group project. This meets the task well, and the conclusion reinforces your position. The response also meets the required length; 13 words copied from the task prompt were excluded from the count. To develop the discussion further, explain the examples more fully and make the comparison between the benefits and drawbacks of each approach more explicit. For instance, the point that competition can create “jealousy and pressure” appears in the introduction but is not developed in the body.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the discussion, and ideas within each body paragraph generally progress from a claim to an example. However, some linking is mechanical, and the opening sentence is difficult to follow because “competition at work, job, at school” is not clearly organised. Repeated references to “some people” also make the progression feel formulaic. Improve cohesion by using clearer topic sentences and linking each example directly back to the paragraph’s main point; check that pronouns and references clearly identify who or what is being discussed.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “competing,” “promotions,” “sharing responsibilities,” “motivation,” and “common goals.” Some phrases also show an attempt to express more specific concepts, such as “healthy competition” and “build good relationships.” However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “encuorages,” “employes,” “coperating,” “instanxe,” and “unecessary” are misspelled, while “some individuals of the people of the nation” is awkward and repetitive. Phrases such as “more good” and “working togethers” are also not natural English. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and vary repeated general terms; proofreading spelling and choosing standard expressions would make your ideas clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause in “although competition can motivate individuals” and a relative clause in “employees who compete for promotions.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity and control. For example, “some people … thinks” has subject–verb disagreement, and “When student compete” needs a plural subject and matching verb. The opening sentence also lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “although” after the full stop should begin with a capital letter or be joined to the preceding sentence. Work on agreement, sentence boundaries, and constructing complete, well-formed introductory sentences. More accurate control of these patterns would strengthen the range you are already attempting.
