Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this contemparary society, some people argue that it is good to have competition in various aspects of life like, work, school and in daily life whereas others believe that cooperation is most important than competition against each other. In my openion competition is most important because competition gives motivation to grow by looking at the person who is already at top position.

A healthy competition can creates a desire to grow and can always bring innovations and best out of a person in different ways. For instance, western tehnology and chinese technology always compete with each other which leads to witness innovation, development and affordability in tech hub. All this inventions are being made just to be on top of one another in which everyone can have a room to grow.

on the flip side, cooperation can have a grate contribution in schools and daily life perticularly during sports and festivals. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both competition and cooperation and state a clear preference for competition, supported by examples from technology and school sports. However, the two views are not developed equally: the benefits of competition are explained more fully, while cooperation is mainly illustrated rather than analysed. The technology example also needs a clearer link to how competition benefits individuals or society. Your conclusion restates your position but does not add much synthesis. The response is 204 words, below the required 250, so there is limited space to explain and support the ideas. Develop each side with a reason and a specific consequence, while keeping your opinion clear throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “For instance,” “on the flip side,” and “In conclusion” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes abrupt. For example, the technology example moves from competition between countries to “everyone can have a room to grow” without explaining the connection. The cooperation paragraph lists sports and festivals but does not develop how cooperation works in each case. Use clearer links between claims, examples, and outcomes, and ensure each paragraph has a focused central idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “competition,” “cooperation,” “motivation,” “innovation,” and “teamwork,” which allows you to discuss both sides of the question. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “top position” and “ethnic groups.” However, spelling errors and awkward or inaccurate collocations are noticeable, including “contemparary,” “tehnology,” “grate contribution,” and “paramount important.” Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “a room to grow” and “tech hub.” Check spelling carefully and choose natural collocations; for example, describe competition as “driving innovation” and cooperation as “playing an important role.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including a contrast clause beginning “although” and sentences with “which” and “whereas.” Meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “A healthy competition can creates” has incorrect verb form, and “cooperation is most important than competition” uses the wrong comparative structure. The conclusion, “although cooperation is important is some aspects,” also has an incorrect preposition and an incomplete contrast structure. There are errors with articles, agreement, and sentence punctuation as well. Practise accurate comparative forms (“more important than”) and check that each clause has a complete, correctly formed verb.
