Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response makes a limited attempt to address the topic: it mentions competition through “matches and games” and suggests that these can improve students’ abilities and offer future opportunities. However, the discussion is largely about sports rather than competition at work, school, and in daily life more broadly. The view in favour of cooperation is introduced in the opening but is not explained or supported, and the writer’s own position is not stated clearly. The example about students is also unfinished and does not show how competition leads to the claimed benefits. The response is 135 words below the required minimum, which leaves too little space to discuss both views and develop a clear opinion. Develop each side with reasons and a relevant example, then state your position explicitly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening introduces the two views, and “On the one hand” signals a move to supporting competition. This gives the reader some indication of the intended structure. However, there is no corresponding discussion of cooperation or concluding paragraph, so the argument does not progress to a complete response. Connections between ideas are also unclear: “While, they should believe that daily activities is that good impact in the mental health” does not clearly relate to the preceding point. The final example ends abruptly at “they attend new opportunities.” Use one paragraph for each view, connect each reason to its explanation or example, and finish with a concise statement of your opinion.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses some topic-related vocabulary, including “cooperate,” “competing,” “mental health,” “abilities,” and “opportunities,” so the general subject is partly recognisable. There are also attempts to use more specific terms such as “tournament” and “practice.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural and make the meaning difficult to follow: “a vital product” does not express that competition is beneficial, “tournament at carrer” is unclear, and “competing one an other” is not a natural phrase. Spelling errors such as “carrer” and “energatic” further reduce clarity. Build a more reliable set of collocations for this topic, such as “competition in the workplace,” “academic performance,” and “cooperate with others,” and check spelling and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple and more complex sentence forms, including “While…” and “For instance…,” but control is inconsistent. Agreement errors appear in “matchs and games is” and “daily activities is,” where plural subjects require plural verbs. The opening also contains an incomplete or poorly formed clause in “However, others we should believe,” and the sentence beginning “While” is not properly connected to a main clause. Articles and sentence punctuation are also unreliable, as in “it is very useful thing.” These problems sometimes make the intended relationships between ideas hard to understand. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, checking subject–verb agreement, and using subordinate clauses only when they are attached to a complete main clause.
