Student answer (Band 5.0)

Several indiduals think that competition at work, at school and in daily life is a beneficial thing. Others argue that we should try to cooperate more, rather than competing againt each other. Having a challenge in our life helps us to improve our ability and to think more deeply contrast than others. If our daily life routine does not contain any such cofusing situation then our mind goes in rest form so we don't test our abilities well and our body need to relax everytime even after a small work.

Firstly, when at any place we faced such type of difficult situation then our brain works more than that in relaxed situation according to one research our brain activity would increased when someone gave us a challenge so it is also crucial for a body that its work hard than its ability. In school when our teachers gave us the task and announced a prize so after listening that our mind gave the different ideas to achieved that prize. However after that our body puts extra efforts to cope up with difficult situation of that time. Competition was important to check the abilities of other for instance our teachers took the test from the whole class and check the abilities of every individual.

Furthermore, others argue that cooperate with each other is far better than to compete. This statment was quite true at some situated but not everywhere beacuse life is not smooth as we think. The places where we know that competition is not possible so at that places cooperation is much better. For instance the places like government sectors where no one listen to you so that at such places competition has no value so you gave respect to them.

In conclusion, improvements are held in such individual by challenging himself so someone gave him the challenge there are many weak areas of human so when he came to such competition then he realized and worked to improve such weak areas.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address the topic by presenting benefits of competition and acknowledging that cooperation can be preferable in some situations. Your examples of a school prize and a class test are relevant, and the conclusion reinforces your view that challenges can reveal weaknesses. However, the discussion is uneven: the case for cooperation is brief and unclear, and the example about government sectors does not clearly show why cooperation is better there. Your position is also not stated clearly at the outset, and the opening focuses on competition without establishing how you will compare both views. Develop each side with a clear reason and a specific, well-explained example, then state your opinion directly. The 23 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an opening, separate paragraphs beginning “Firstly” and “Furthermore,” and a conclusion. These markers help readers identify the two views. However, progression within paragraphs is often difficult to follow: the opening moves from challenges to rest and bodily relaxation, while the first body paragraph shifts among brain activity, prizes, effort, and testing without clearly linking each point. Some connections are mechanical or unclear, such as “However after that” and “so that at such places.” The conclusion repeats the competition argument rather than drawing together the comparison. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, explain it in sequence, and use pronouns and linking phrases that make the relationships between ideas explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “competition,” “cooperate,” “challenge,” “abilities,” and “improve,” so the reader can identify the subject and your main ideas. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make meaning unclear, such as “confusing situation,” “our mind goes in rest form,” and “competition has no value.” Spelling errors, including “indiduals,” “againt,” and “statment,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise expressions and check spelling carefully. For example, describe how a challenge “motivates people to develop their skills,” rather than saying it makes the mind work “more than” in a relaxed situation. Avoid repeating broad terms such as “places” when a more specific noun is available.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including conditional forms such as “If our daily life routine does not contain…” and clauses introduced by “when” and “because.” This shows an effort to vary sentence structure. However, errors are frequent, and some sentences are difficult to interpret. For example, “when at any place we faced” has an inconsistent tense, while “our brain activity would increased” uses an incorrect verb form. Agreement and sentence construction are also problematic in “our body need to relax” and “others argue that cooperate with each other is far better.” Practise forming complete clauses with consistent tense, correct subject–verb agreement, and appropriate verb patterns. Breaking long, loosely connected sentences into shorter ones would also improve control and clarity.
