Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this era, competition in all field rapidly increase with the timeframe while others believe that cooperation is also crucial in many fields of life than competition among the people. I believe that both of them have different values in person life because it help us to motivate the person to work hard and help others if they needs.

On the one hand, competition in different aspects of life increase with the timeframe such as in education the students works hard to compete other to win first prize in a class and also motivate the students to work hard to get good marks. However, there are also a competition among different companies in all over the world in different fields. For instance, the mobile companise launch their new models every year to compete other companies such as they introduce Iphone and Samsung are competitive companies they introduce different features to earn good revenue.

On the other hand, other believe that cooperation is also more important to increase the sense of teamwork among the people, such as many fields and organizations are run on the model of cooperation. For instance if teacher allot a topic to group of students, so that why everyone share there opinion to complete their presentation by teamwork. Moreover, the stress among the people reduce because everyone participate in task to solve problem. Furthermore, cooperation builds the unity among the people which is more helpful.

In conclusion, although competition builds growth and efficiency. I believe cooperation is more valuable in the long run. A balance is ideal, where people compete to improve themselves but also learn to cooperate for collective success.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the question and give a clear personal view: competition can motivate people, while cooperation is more valuable over time, with a balance between the two. The examples about students, companies, and group presentations are relevant and help explain your points. However, the discussion is unevenly developed. The competition paragraph mainly describes students working for prizes and companies launching products, without explaining in depth how competition benefits individuals or society. The cooperation paragraph gives several benefits, but these are also asserted more than explored. To strengthen the response, explain the consequences of each example and connect them more explicitly to your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your opinion. This logical arrangement makes the discussion easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” guide the reader. The examples generally appear in the relevant paragraphs. To move beyond this level, make the links between ideas more precise and less formulaic. For example, the transition from the group-presentation example to reduced stress is abrupt, and “Moreover” and “Furthermore” introduce benefits without showing how they relate. Use clearer referencing and explain the connection between each example and the point it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to discuss the question, including “competition,” “cooperation,” “teamwork,” “unity,” and “collective success.” Some choices, such as “motivate” and “revenue,” show an attempt to express ideas beyond basic vocabulary. However, noticeable word-choice, collocation, word-form, and spelling errors reduce precision: “in all field,” “compete other,” “mobile companise,” and “share there opinion” are examples. Repetition of “people,” “different,” and “increase” also limits flexibility. Build accuracy by learning common word partnerships and checking spelling and forms; for instance, use “compete with other companies” and “share their opinions.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “while,” and “although,” and the overall meaning is usually understandable. However, errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction occur across the response. Examples include “competition … increase,” “the students works,” and “if teacher allot a topic … so that why,” where the clause structure is faulty. The opening sentence also combines ideas in a way that makes the relationship between them unclear. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and building complete clauses before adding connectors. Aim for accurate, controlled sentences first, then extend them with subordinate clauses and varied structures.
