Student answer (Band 5.5)

A number of people believe that competition at work,at school and our daily life is a crucial thing. Whiles others also think that cooperation is more relevant than challenge against each other. This essay will discuss both views and statement of my opinion follows.

To begin with, competitions at work and at school plays a role in our daily life, this is because, its help us to be on our toes. Having a competitors at the work place and even at school enable us to work hard for the rewards and praises. A lot people colleagues at our various institutions try to contributes to making us better when there are a lot of competitions. For instance, awards, such as cars, salary increments and housese were distributed to a number of staff at the MTN heroes of change competition which rewards it workers for outstanding performance at work. Which I believe that, this will encourage most of the employees to also work hard to achieve more ,and this set as a example of competition we have at work and also at school.

However, some individuals also believe likewise, by trusting that coooperation at our various institutions in our daily life is crucial rather than competition. Cooperation at work is more relevant because teamwork brings about good results and at school learning together and sharing ideas makes pupil to perform well in exams. For example nurses work hand in hand with other health faculties and working together as a team helps to better patient condition.

In conclusio, competition at work and school play a crucial way of putting college to their toes whiles others also believe in cooperation at school and at work. In my opinion, I trust that, cooperation at work and school is better option than competition because teamwork is more important and the results attach to it are good.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both competition and cooperation and state a clear preference for cooperation in the conclusion. The examples—workplace rewards and nurses working as a team—are relevant to the topic. However, the discussion is uneven: the competition paragraph gives several claims about motivation, but the explanation of how competition benefits students or everyday life remains general. The cooperation argument is also brief, and the nursing example supports teamwork at work rather than the wider claim about daily life. The opening says the essay will discuss both views, but your own position is not clear until the conclusion. Develop each main point with a fuller explanation and make your opinion explicit from the introduction onward.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “To begin with” and “However” help signal the change in argument, and the examples are placed with the relevant points. Some connections are less clear or mechanical, though. For example, “Which I believe that” is an incomplete link to the preceding sentence, while “some individuals also believe likewise” does not clearly identify the contrast. The conclusion repeats ideas from the body rather than drawing them together. Use clearer references and connect each example directly to the claim it supports; this would make the progression easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “competition,” “cooperation,” “teamwork,” “rewards,” and “outstanding performance,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive. Phrases such as “challenge against each other,” “a lot people colleagues,” and “the results attach to it” are unclear or unnatural, and “crucial” is repeated without much variation. Spelling errors such as “coooperation,” “housese,” and “conclusio” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of expressions for describing competition and collaboration, and check spelling and word combinations when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including explanations with “because” and examples introduced by “For instance.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries can make parts difficult to read. For example, “competitions … plays” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “Having a competitors … enable us” contains errors in number and agreement. The fragment “Which I believe that” also interrupts the sentence structure. Punctuation is inconsistent, particularly where commas join complete clauses. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly connected supporting clause, then check agreement and sentence boundaries.
