Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You introduce both sides of the issue and give a qualified position in “I partly agreed with this because it depend upon the situation.” However, the response only begins to discuss competition, mentioning workplace tasks and tournaments, and does not explain how competition benefits people or develop a clear example. Cooperation is named in “turning towards cooperating,” but no supporting argument follows. As a result, the discussion and your opinion remain very incomplete, rather than addressing all parts with developed reasons. The response is also 122 words below the required minimum, which leaves too little space to explain both views. To improve, state your position clearly, develop one reason for each view, and support them with relevant examples before concluding.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is an initial attempt to organise the response: the opening introduces the topic, and “To focused on competition” and “turning towards cooperating” signal a move between the two views. However, the progression stops abruptly. The workplace example is left unfinished, and the later sequence “additionaly / morever / meanwhile” and “firstly / secondly / however” consists of linking words without connected ideas. This makes the relationships between points unclear and prevents the response from forming complete, purposeful paragraphs. Build a simple structure with an introduction, one paragraph explaining competition, one explaining cooperation, and a conclusion. Use linking expressions only when they accurately connect complete sentences, and make sure each paragraph develops one central point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt some topic-related vocabulary, including “cooperative behavior,” “competition,” “tournament,” and “employees,” which shows an effort to discuss work and social life rather than relying only on very basic words. There are also attempts at less common phrasing, such as “settlement of society,” but this is not a natural expression for the intended meaning. Other choices, including “tournament ceremony” and “comparing himself with another one,” are awkward or imprecise and sometimes make the message harder to follow. The range is limited because the response does not develop many ideas. Aim for accurate collocations and a wider set of terms, such as “teamwork,” “healthy rivalry,” and “compare oneself with others,” and check spelling of linking words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The opening attempts a complex sentence with a concession and a reason, showing some willingness to combine ideas. However, control is weak across the response, and several errors make meaning less clear. For example, “Competition play” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “mostly people believed” and “it depend upon the situation” use incorrect verb forms. The sentence beginning “In working place” also contains problems with articles, agreement, and sentence completion: “task assign to multiple employees” and “this task have to submitted” are not grammatically complete. The response offers little evidence of accurate sentence variety beyond the opening. Practise forming complete simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses, checking agreement, verb forms, articles, and punctuation.
