Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays, people have their own personal preferences and beliefs some people thinks that heathlty competition is good, while other argues that they should be helpful for each other. I partly agree with the point that healthy competition motivate individuals, cooperation is more valuable in the long term.
On the one hand, competition among students and employees have very significant impact because, competition motivates them to perform in better way and they get more benefits from it. Competition encourages and boosts people to work harder and improve their skills. When students compete for higher grades and workers aim for promotion they become more competitive and determined to achieve their goals. Furthermore, competition can help people to identify their weaknesses and strengths and may help people to achieve their objectives. For instance, students who compete in exams, spend more time in their studies and become very confident and knowledgeable.
On the other hand, cooperation allows people to share knowledge, help others to understand their work and needs, supports each others and achieve common goals.Meanwhile cooperation is also beneficial for people mental health . For example, if an employee has a lot of stress and anxiety related to his work, good communication and understanding with fellows keep him relaxed so he can perform well without any pressure. In addition, students who work together on projects can exchange ideas with each other and perform well. Moreover, in a hospital doctors, nurses and physiotherapists must be cooperate to provide adequate treatment for the betterment of patients.
To sum up, both cooperation and competition have important benefits. Nevertheless, I believe that cooperation should be given greater importance because it promotes teamwork, mutual respect and collaboration.Competition is best when it involves personal development and preventing people from working together.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear position: competition can motivate people, but cooperation matters more in the long term. The two main body paragraphs develop relevant reasons, including students striving for higher grades, employees managing stress, and healthcare professionals working together. These examples support your argument and help keep the response focused on the question. Your conclusion also restates your preference for cooperation while recognising a role for competition. To strengthen the response further, explain some claims more precisely: for example, clarify how competition helps people identify their weaknesses, and develop the final point about competition and personal development so its relationship to cooperation is unmistakable. This would make the support more consistently specific and fully extended.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The progression from the benefits of competition to the advantages of cooperation is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To sum up” guide the reader effectively. You also use examples within the relevant paragraphs. At times, however, connections between ideas feel mechanical or unclear. “Meanwhile” does not clearly show the relationship between cooperation and mental health, and the sentence beginning “In addition” would connect more smoothly if the examples were grouped by their shared benefit. Add spaces after full stops and use referencing carefully, particularly in “supports each others,” to make the flow more polished.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “determined,” “identify their weaknesses and strengths,” “mutual respect,” and “collaboration.” These choices allow you to discuss motivation, teamwork, and wellbeing, and your meaning is generally clear. You also attempt some less common or topic-specific expressions, such as “adequate treatment” and “personal development.” However, several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors reduce precision: “heathlty,” “perform in better way,” “more benefits from it,” and “for the betterment of patients” are awkward or inaccurate in context. Some key terms, especially “competition” and “cooperation,” are repeated often. Aim to use accurate collocations and a few natural alternatives, while checking spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “when,” and “if,” and most of the argument remains understandable. Some sentence patterns are handled successfully, such as “When students compete for higher grades and workers aim for promotion…” However, errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries recur. For example, “some people thinks” should have subject–verb agreement, “competition … have” needs a singular verb, and “must be cooperate” uses an incorrect verb construction. The opening also joins two independent ideas without clear punctuation, while “common goals.Meanwhile” needs a space and clearer sentence separation. Review agreement and verb patterns, and proofread punctuation to make your varied structures more consistently accurate.
