Student answer (Band 6.0)

People have different point of views about the competition and cooperation at work, in school and in daily life. Some people consider that competition is a good thing between each other, while others believe teamwork is a good approach. But I would argue that teamwork is much more important than competition.

On the first hand, some people like competition because it makes people work very hard. For examle, in school students work hard because they want get the first position. Similarly, at work people work more to complete their task before the deadline to get promotion or extra bonus. As a result, competition can help to learn new thing and become at their job.

On the other hand, I think working together is a much better approach. The main reason is that always trying beat other people can cause a lot of stress, anger and jealousy. We cannot solve big problems alone so we must need a team that work together and solve the problem with any stress. If we face a big problem and we are alone we can solve but taks many times and also face depression and feeling alone but we are working in team and have problem they can solve in a less time beacause everyone have different thought and ideas. When people help eachother they can achieve big goals.

Although a little competition is a good for improving the skills, I firmly believe that teamwork is much more useful. Working together make us our envirnment peaceful and bring true success.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and state a clear opinion: competition can motivate people, but cooperation is more useful overall. The examples of students seeking a top position and employees aiming for promotion or a bonus are relevant, and you explain that teamwork can help solve large problems. However, the two sides are not developed equally. The benefits of competition are mostly asserted, and the teamwork example becomes difficult to follow, so the reader cannot fully see how cooperation reduces stress or leads to better outcomes. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation or a specific example, and make the comparison between the approaches more explicit. Your conclusion restates your position, though its claim about a peaceful environment could be explained further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a concluding opinion. Transitions such as “On the other hand” and “Although” help signal the change in viewpoint, and the reader can generally follow your progression. This meets the lower-band expectations and shows some features of stronger organisation. However, cohesion is less controlled within the teamwork paragraph: the long sentence beginning “If we face a big problem” combines several contrasting ideas without clear boundaries, making the reasoning hard to track. Some links, such as “As a result,” also connect ideas whose relationship is not fully explained. Break complex points into shorter sentences and use pronouns and linking phrases to make each step in the argument clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “competition,” “teamwork,” “promotion,” “stress,” and “jealousy.” Some choices, such as “extra bonus” and “big goals,” convey your meaning, but the range is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or unnatural. Examples include “different point of views,” “get the first position,” and “become at their job”; spelling errors such as “examle,” “beacause,” and “envirnment” also reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall argument, but they make expression less precise. Build a wider set of natural collocations for motivation, workplace performance, and cooperation, and check spelling and word forms during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause beginning “Although” and a reason introduced by “because.” The main ideas are usually understandable, but control is uneven, particularly in longer sentences. For example, “we must need a team that work together” has problems with verb form and agreement, while “Working together make us our environment peaceful” has errors in subject–verb agreement and sentence construction. The sentence beginning “If we face a big problem” also contains several clauses joined without clear grammatical boundaries. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, infinitive patterns, and sentence boundaries, then use complex structures in shorter, carefully checked sentences. This will improve clarity while preserving the range you are attempting.
