Student answer (Band 6.0)

Several individuals often argued that comparing themselves with others at workplace, at academic institutes and in routine life is a good development, while others think that everyone should try to cooperate more among comparing with others. I think competition encourage people to do more better but frequent competition disturb their mental health whereas cooperating with others make friendly environment and achieve success together.

On the one hand, people who believe that competition is good thing at everywhere because it encourage people to do better performance and achieve a level of step ahead of their competitior. For example, at school many students compete with ranker students to get higher score in their results. Sometimes, it may increase stress level and anxiety in their mind for the reason of they feel less capable than their competitors. Also, it influence people to become selfish against them and they start hurting them or sometimes imagine bad for them. Eventually, it creates unhealthy environment and people become rude, do violence and get mental health issues. So, competiton in controlled manner can good for everyone but oftenly they just harm each others

On the other hand, People cooperate their colleague and get success together. They help each others and grow friendly environment in society. For instance, a person who have some trouble on working project they get some help from senior employee and they might help them to complete it. After this they make strong relation and feel confident, because the fresher candidate like friendly behaviour of their senior. As a result of this, it lead to more benefit to society and enhance kindness and supportive environment at everywhere.

In conclusion, I think competition is encouraging people to succeed in their life but it should be in controlled situtation whereas cooperative behaviour impact more in society rather than competing against each other. So , i strongly agree that everyone should cooperate with each other.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both sides of the discussion and make your own position clear: competition can motivate people, but cooperation is more beneficial overall. The school example illustrates how competition may encourage higher achievement, while the workplace example shows how colleagues can support one another. These relevant points meet the task well. However, some ideas are more fully explained than others: the possible harms of competition receive several claims, including selfishness and violence, without much explanation of how these outcomes arise. The benefits of cooperation are also stated broadly rather than explored in depth. To strengthen the response, develop each main point with a clearer explanation or a specific consequence, and make the comparison between the two approaches more explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your opinion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the discussion. There is also a generally logical progression from the claimed benefits of competition to its drawbacks, followed by cooperation. At times, however, connections between ideas are mechanical or unclear. For example, “So, competition in controlled manner can good for everyone but oftenly they just harm each others” combines contrasting points without a clear transition, and “After this” does not precisely show the relationship between workplace help and stronger relationships. Use more precise referencing and link each example directly to the point it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “competition,” “cooperate,” “stress level,” “anxiety,” “supportive environment,” and “strong relation.” This gives you enough language to discuss both sides, and the meaning is generally understandable. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or unnatural, as in “comparing themselves with others,” “achieve a level of step ahead,” and “friendly environment.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, such as “competitior,” “competiton,” and “oftenly.” These sometimes make the reader pause, even when the intended idea can be inferred. Build a bank of natural collocations for this topic and check spelling and word forms carefully; for example, use “gain a competitive advantage” rather than “achieve a level of step ahead.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses with “whereas,” “because,” and “who,” and the overall message can usually be followed. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include “competition encourage people,” “cooperating with others make,” and “a person who have some trouble.” The sentence beginning “For the reason of they feel less capable” also shows difficulty forming a subordinate clause. Some sentences join several ideas without clear grammatical boundaries. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and clause patterns, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and main verb. Shorter, well-controlled sentences will help you express your ideas more reliably.
