Student answer (Band 6.0)
Competition can be seen everywhere in our daily life whether it be our office, our school or simply our daily life which some people believe to be a good thing while some also argue that there should be more cooperation rather than competing with each other so that the society can grow together.
It is a human tendency that sense of competition makes them to get better in that particular field, such competition can easily be seen in our work life where every employee tries to be better than other so that they get a better promotion than others. This is also necessary considering the fact that if all employees are only giving their 100% percent, with no one trying to score 110% or 120%, then such department or such company can never outgrow their targets. The similar situation can be seen in school or daily life especially sports where being competitive is highly important otherwise your opponent can take your winning position. The sense of competition helps a human get better in their field.
Cooperation between people is exactly as important as competition because all humans are not equal with some needing more help to sort out things. The importance of cooperation can easily be understood when working under groups, such that the group can never succeed when only one person is achieving more than their assigned tasks while other members of the same group are struggling even in completing simply the assigned taks. Under such scenarios, success can only be achieved when all team members cooperate with each other to achieve their desired results.
In conclusion, competition is important in our life for personal growth and learn from our mistakes to get better but that doesn't mean we should never cooperate with our competitor instead helping each other can help them achieve a bigger goal.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the discussion and give a clear overall view: competition supports personal improvement, while cooperation helps groups achieve shared goals. The workplace example about employees seeking promotion and the group-work example make the ideas relevant. However, the two positions are not developed equally in depth: the case for competition receives several explanations, whereas cooperation is mainly illustrated through one group-work scenario. Some claims, such as a company failing to meet targets unless employees aim beyond 100%, are asserted rather than explained or qualified. Your conclusion restates the balance but could make your own position more precise—for example, explaining when cooperation should take priority over competition. Further development and support would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for competition and cooperation, and a conclusion. This makes the discussion easy to follow, and phrases such as “The importance of cooperation” signal the shift between the two views. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The opening sentence repeats “daily life,” and the long first body paragraph moves from work to school and sports without a clear transition between examples. The phrase “This is also necessary” has an imprecise reference, so the reader must infer what “this” means. Use more deliberate topic sentences and clearer links between each claim and its example; this would improve progression and make cohesion less repetitive.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to discuss the topic, including relevant terms such as “promotion,” “competitive,” “cooperate,” and “achieve their desired results.” These choices generally communicate your meaning. However, the range is somewhat repetitive, particularly with “competition,” “better,” and “important,” and several expressions are not natural or precise: “get better in that particular field,” “outgrow their targets,” and “take your winning position.” There is also a spelling error in “taks.” Aim for more accurate collocations and a wider set of topic-related terms, such as “improve their performance,” “exceed targets,” and “secure victory.” More precise phrasing would make your ideas sound clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “when all team members cooperate … to achieve their desired results.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in longer sentences. For example, “It is a human tendency that sense of competition makes them to get better” has problems with the article, pronoun reference, and verb pattern; “makes them to get” should be “makes them get.” The opening sentence also has an awkward “whether it be” construction, and the sentence beginning “This is also necessary considering the fact that” is overloaded and difficult to control. Review sentence boundaries, articles, and verb patterns, and divide long sentences where needed to improve accuracy.
