Student answer (Band 6.0)

People have different views about whether competition is a positive arrangement at work, school, and in daily life, or cooperation is a good thing rather than going against each other. While ompetition helps to increase motivation from achiving goal, cooperation offers convenience in teamwork and build positive social bonding in people. In my opinion, both competition and cooperation are crucial in every aspects of life.

One of the most positive benefits of competion is it pushes people toward their desires. People work really hard for their goal when they aware of that particular competition. For example, a student studies harder when they want be a class topper which can lead to a successful career in the long run. Therefore, competition provide people motivation to achive their future goal.

In terms of the cooperation, it allows people work effectively. People can do a hard task with the help of other people, which may imposible fo be done by a one person. A office worker having difficulties with a project For instance, can easily finish that task with the help of others members of that office of can take suggestion from them. Furthermore, helping each other make social interaction more reliable. It could be beneficial in many circumstances in people's lives. To be more exact, if a student solve a difficult math with the help of his classmate, they become friends.

In conclusion, some people thinks that competition could be beneficial at different circumstances, whereas others believe that cooperation is a positive thing because it build essential relationship among people and make hard work easier. From my perspective both are important and it depends on the situation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the discussion and give a clear personal view: competition can motivate people, while cooperation helps people complete difficult tasks and build relationships. The student and office-worker examples are relevant and help explain these points. However, the discussion is not equally developed: the benefits of competition are mainly illustrated through one student example, and the cooperation paragraph makes several broad claims without explaining them in depth. The conclusion restates both views and your position, but “it depends on the situation” could be made more precise by explaining when each approach is most useful. Develop each main idea with a fuller explanation or a specific consequence to make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for competition and cooperation, and a conclusion. This makes the main line of discussion easy to follow. You also use signposting such as “For example,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion.” At times, however, the links between ideas are mechanical or unclear. In the cooperation paragraph, “A office worker having difficulties with a project For instance” interrupts the sentence, and “To be more exact” does not clearly signal how the friendship example develops the previous point. Improve cohesion by placing linking phrases naturally and using clear references to connect each example to the claim it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “motivation,” “teamwork,” “social interaction,” and “beneficial,” and the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. There are, however, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that reduce precision, such as “ompetition,” “competion,” “achiving,” and “imposible.” Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise: “positive arrangement,” “pushes people toward their desires,” and “reliable” for social interaction. Aim to learn common collocations as complete phrases, such as “encourage people to achieve their goals” and “strengthen social bonds.” Proofreading spelling and choosing more natural wording would make your ideas clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast in the opening and clauses introduced by “when,” “which,” and “if.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “cooperation offers … and build” needs parallel agreement, while “People work really hard … when they aware” is missing a verb. Other examples include “a student solve” and “some people thinks.” Punctuation also makes the office-worker example difficult to parse. Review subject–verb agreement, complete verb phrases, and article use, then check that each sentence has a clear grammatical structure. More accurate control of these patterns would strengthen the response.
