Student answer (Band 5.0)
People have different opinions about competition and cooperate with each others. While some people believe that competition at work, at school and in daily life is good thing, others argued that we should give it our best shot to cooperate more, rather than competing against each other. To some extent, I personally believe that cooperation with each other is better than competition.
On the other hand, some people support to competition at work, at school and in daily life. Competition is better and it helps students to focus more on study and achieve excellent marks. For instance, during sports competition develop some joy and curiosity, because during game one team made full efforts to defeat their competitive team for final price. Therefor, competition is better to get more good results in life.
On the other hand, others believe that we should try our best to support each others in every day of life. With the help of cooperation we can achieve big and fruitful. For example, the company in which many employees are doing work at a time and this company are growing with the support of their employees and their cooperation. I believe this view is more beneficial because with cooperation, people can achieve their goal.
In conclusion, both views have their own benefits. However, I believe that cooperate with each other is more beneficial because when we try to cooperate with others in their difficult situation it create good impact on our society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear preference for cooperation, especially in the opening and conclusion. The examples about students’ marks, sports, and employees helping a company are relevant, but they are brief and do not explain in much detail how competition or cooperation produces the stated outcomes. The position is also asserted more than developed: for instance, the conclusion says cooperation creates a good impact on society without explaining how. The response contains 216 words, so it is 34 words below the 250-word minimum; 29 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop each main idea with a clearer explanation and a specific example to address the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the main points, and phrases such as “For instance” and “In conclusion” signal examples and closure. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and the repeated “On the other hand” at the start of both body paragraphs does not clearly distinguish the contrasting views. Some links are awkward or unclear, such as “during sports competition develop some joy and curiosity,” which makes the relationship between the example and the claim difficult to follow. Use a wider range of accurate transitions, and connect each example explicitly to the point it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the basic discussion, including “competition,” “cooperation,” “achieve,” and “employees.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are noticeably inaccurate, sometimes making the intended meaning unclear. For example, “support to competition” is not a natural way to express the idea, and “achieve big and fruitful” does not convey a clear outcome. “Final price” appears to mean a prize, while “Therefor” is misspelled. Aim for precise, natural combinations and check spelling. More specific vocabulary for outcomes—such as motivation, teamwork, and shared goals—would also help you explain the ideas with greater clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast clause beginning “While some people believe…” and a reason clause with “because.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to process. Examples include “People have different opinions about competition and cooperate,” where the forms are not parallel, and “this company are growing,” where the subject and verb do not agree. In “when we try to cooperate with others in their difficult situation it create good impact,” the verb form, article use, and sentence punctuation need attention. Practise checking subject–verb agreement, articles, and complete sentence structure, then proofread each sentence for these patterns.
