Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both sides of the prompt and give a personal view, particularly in the conclusion, where you support allowing children to compete. However, the discussion is only partly focused on the question: the first body paragraph mainly describes sports and their benefits, while the prompt asks about competition at work, school and in daily life. The cooperation argument is also unclear; the point about parents prioritising exams over games does not explain how cooperation benefits people. Examples about Japan and India are asserted rather than explained, so they provide limited support. To strengthen the response, explain each view directly, develop relevant reasons, and make your position clear from the introduction and consistent throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting contrasting views, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclude” help signal these sections. However, progression within paragraphs is often difficult to follow: the first paragraph moves from sports to communication skills, a Japan example, and routine without clearly connecting the points. Linking expressions such as “Consequently” and “On account of” do not always show the intended relationship between ideas. Some references, including “this part of game” and “this projects,” are unclear. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, then explain and illustrate it in a logical sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “competition,” “cooperate,” “communication skills,” and “childhood memories.” There is also some effort to vary expression, for example “hectic routine” and “take part.” However, the range is limited and many inaccurate word choices or collocations make meaning difficult to interpret, as in “rose dramatically developed communication skills,” “make a good marks,” and “hiking their mood.” Spelling errors such as “chilhood,” “footboll,” “genral,” and “precpective” are noticeable. Aim to use familiar words accurately before attempting more elaborate phrasing, and check spelling and collocations. For example, describe how competition “helps develop” skills rather than using an unclear verb sequence.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “whereas,” “however,” and “because”-type reasoning. Nevertheless, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty, which sometimes makes the intended meaning hard to follow. Examples include “many schools that they has initiate this projects” and “many father they are not allow to play game”; these show problems with clause structure, agreement, and verb forms. Articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “a different games” and the run-on opening sentence. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add one subordinate clause at a time. Review agreement, tense, articles, and punctuation when editing.
