Student answer (Band 6.0)
While many people believe that competing in workplaces, institutions or any situation in life is an importatnt aspect, others argue that it is better to be helpful towards each other instead of fighting against each other as it offers a peaceful atmosphere, teaches to be cooperative and many others.
On the one hand, being a competitive person is considered a good habit by many people in our society due to its some vital benefits. For example, when a person doing a competition with someone, it not only enhances his work limit but also keep him motivated to do something even better. Moreover, individuals who have competitiveness in their gesture or behaviour can lead a quality life. However, arranging competitions in institutions is also an essential practice for students as it ensures their activity in extracurricular activities.
On the other hand, trying to be cooperative in everything is a vital activity as well because it offers a helpful society. For instance, when everybody wants to cooperate one another it will make a calm and peacful environment. As a result, maintaining a good relation with relatives become more easier. In fact, by helping each other, we can make our nation more develope economically and socially by contributing in everything.
to conclude with, I firmly believe that balance between the two is ideal but if one must be choose, I will go for cooperative as it offers more diverse and benefitial aspect. but we should try to maintain both as it help us.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the question and give a clear preference for cooperation, while also acknowledging that balance is desirable. The points about competition increasing motivation and cooperation creating a calmer society are relevant. However, some ideas are asserted rather than explained: for example, the claim that competitive people “can lead a quality life” is not supported, and the link between cooperation and national economic development needs a clearer example or explanation. The discussion of competition in schools also shifts to extracurricular activity without showing how competition benefits students. Develop these points with specific examples and explain the consequences more fully, while keeping your final position consistent and explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “to conclude” make the progression easy to follow, and the main ideas are generally grouped appropriately. This already provides a coherent framework, but some links between claims are mechanical or unclear. For instance, “As a result” introduces a claim about relations with relatives, although the preceding point concerns a calm environment; the connection needs to be made explicit. The conclusion also introduces balance after favouring cooperation, without fully reconciling these positions. Use clearer references and transitions that show how each example supports the paragraph’s main point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “competitive,” “cooperate,” “motivated,” and “economically and socially,” so the main ideas are understandable. There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “vital benefits” and “peaceful atmosphere.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “work limit,” “competitiveness in their gesture,” and “helpful society.” Spelling and word-form errors such as “importatnt,” “peacful,” “develope,” and “benefitial” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural combinations and check spelling and forms carefully; this will make your vocabulary more precise without requiring unnecessarily complex words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses with “when,” “as,” and “because,” and the overall meaning is usually clear. Some sentences are controlled, such as “Moreover, individuals who have competitiveness in their gesture or behaviour can lead a quality life,” though its vocabulary is inaccurate. Other sentences show grammatical problems: “when a person doing a competition” needs a finite verb, “it not only enhances … but also keep him motivated” has agreement errors, and “maintaining a good relation … become more easier” has agreement and comparative-form errors. The final sentence also contains an incomplete construction in “if one must be choose.” Review verb forms, subject–verb agreement, articles, and comparative structures, then proofread each sentence for these patterns.
