Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is said that, competition at work, at school and in daily life has its own benefits and drawbacks. Competing nature of human being is essential for doing work faster but cooparation among each other is more important to do the job properly.

people often tends to race for work faster and want more appreciations. This competing nature is helpful for motivating the people to do their works properly. The hunger for doing better than others will lead to utilization of ones true talent. Without this push some people may feel lazy while working. On the other hand, cooperation is one of the most important virtues of our life which leads us build a better work environment. It is not only helpful to do the work efficiently but also important to build our moral. A new comer will feel much safer around a cooperative culture.

In my opinion i think cooperation is more important than competing against each other. Though some people think that competing nature is a good virture but it will eventually lead to being a selfish. If only focus on our selves and ingore our surroundings will become a robot. Helping each other at every aspect of our life will give us a chance to learn more. Humans are social creature so its our nature to work along side each other. So being able to blend with our colleagues, friends, and family will be beneficial for us. This will help us to learn new things at our respected feild and keep the motivation high.

In conclusion, cooperation should be our main concern to survive in this world. Working along side our own keen and helping them will keep the order of our daily life. Competing with each other will lead to lose our human nature.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear preference for cooperation, especially in “In my opinion i think cooperation is more important.” The points about competition motivating people and cooperation helping newcomers feel safe are relevant. However, some ideas are asserted rather than fully explained: for example, the claim that competition leads to selfishness would be stronger with a specific explanation or example. The discussion of competition is also less developed than your case for cooperation, and the conclusion repeats your position without adding much. To strengthen the response, explain the effects of each approach in more depth and support key claims with a concrete example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph discussing both approaches, a paragraph explaining your opinion, and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “On the other hand,” “Though,” and “In conclusion” help signal the direction of the argument. However, the first body paragraph moves between competition and cooperation without clearly separating the two sides, and some connections between claims are abrupt. For instance, the move from competition causing selfishness to humans being social creatures could be explained more explicitly. Paragraphing is appropriate, but clearer topic sentences and more precise referencing would improve progression. Use linking devices to show relationships between ideas, rather than relying mainly on contrast markers.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “motivation,” “virtues,” “work environment,” and “social creature,” and your meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “utilization of one’s true talent,” though this phrasing is not natural in context. Several spelling and word-choice errors reduce accuracy, including “cooparation,” “appreciations,” “virture,” “ingore,” and “feild.” Some phrases are awkward or imprecise, such as “do the job properly” and “blend with our colleagues.” Aim for accurate spelling and natural collocations, and choose vocabulary that expresses the intended idea precisely. This would make your argument sound more fluent and controlled.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast structure beginning “Though some people think…” and a conditional idea with “Without this push…”. However, errors in sentence construction and grammar are frequent enough to make some sentences awkward or difficult to follow. Examples include “people often tends,” “which leads us build,” and “If only focus on our selves… will become a robot,” where subjects, verb forms, or clause structure are missing or incorrect. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and punctuation, as in “Humans are social creature” and the comma after “It is said that.” Practise building complete clauses with clear subjects and verbs, then check agreement and sentence boundaries.
