Student answer (Band 6.0)
In modern era, Competition has become a common part of our life whether at school, offices, or at a school. While some people believe that competition motivates individuals to chieve their goals, other often argue that cooperation is more beneficial. In my opinion, although competition is good to gain success but cooperation with each other helps to get success in long term .
On one hand, competition encourages people to work harder and improve their abilities. When individuals compete with each other then they try to perform better and achieve higher results. For example students who get excelent grades in exams they may spend more time in studying and focusses on their mistakes to do better and become more disciplined. Similarly, competition in workplace among employees can increase their productivity and encourages them to do innovations in the workplace. therefore, competition can be a powerful source of motivation when it is conducted fairly.
On the other hand, many people believe that cooperation is more beneficial because it promotes mutual understanding and teamwork. In schools the students who study in groups together share their knowledge and help each other to understanding difficult topics. Similarly, employees at workplace combine their skills to solve bigger problems much easily as compared to to do it seperately. Morever, excessive competition can create stress, jealousy and conflicts, which may damage good long term realtionships and reduce overaal performance. cooperation in contrast helps to build better understanding among peoples.
In my view, both competition and cooperation have their own advantages, but cooperation should be given more importance . While competition motivates individuals to do better by compete with each other and focus only on ourselves that may lead peope to focus only on personnel success.A cooperation between the two is therefore necessary. People should compete with themselves to improve their mistakes and to do better as compared to its past results while cooperation with their to achieve shared objectives.
In conclusion , competition motivates individuals to work harder and develop better skills that will help in future, whereas cooperation helps to build better long term relationships to achieve coomon goals. i believe cooperation is more important in long term . But healthy competition has pivot role in society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear preference for cooperation, while recognising that fair competition can motivate people. Relevant examples include students sharing knowledge and employees combining skills, and your conclusion returns to the contrast between individual progress and shared goals. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the claim that competition encourages workplace innovation is not illustrated, and the idea that people should compete with their past performance is introduced late without being developed. Your position that cooperation deserves greater importance is clear, but the relationship between cooperation and healthy competition could be explained more precisely. Develop each main claim with a specific example and show how it supports your overall view.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for competition and cooperation, your opinion, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the discussion. Within paragraphs, examples generally relate to the main point. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The final opinion paragraph shifts from cooperation to competing with oneself and then to shared objectives without clearly explaining how these ideas fit together. There are also awkward transitions and punctuation around linking expressions, such as “therefore” after a full stop and “cooperation in contrast.” Use fewer formulaic transitions and make the logical relationship between each sentence explicit, especially when moving from a claim to its example or qualification.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “mutual understanding,” “productivity,” “jealousy,” “conflicts,” and “shared objectives.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and some topic-specific language is attempted. However, inaccurate word forms, spelling, and collocations are noticeable and sometimes make the writing less natural: “chieve,” “excelent,” “focusses,” “do innovations,” “understanding difficult topics,” and “personnel success.” There is also repetition of “better,” “success,” and “cooperation,” which limits flexibility. Aim to check spelling and choose natural combinations, such as “introduce innovations,” “understand difficult topics,” and “personal success.” More precise vocabulary would make your arguments clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including contrast clauses with “While” and cause-and-effect structures such as “because it promotes mutual understanding and teamwork.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include “students who get excellent grades … focusses,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “helps to get success in long term,” where the article and sentence structure are incomplete. The final opinion paragraph also contains unclear constructions, including “by compete with each other” and “cooperation with their to achieve shared objectives.” Punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent, particularly after sentence breaks. Practise accurate verb forms, articles, and complete clause structures, then proofread each sentence to ensure its subject and main verb are clear.
