Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's rapidly growing world, Competition and cooperation both are the main pillars of a successful individual. There are several people who think competition at work, at school and in daily life is a better while, some individuals think cooperation is more important than competing against each other. I firmly believe that both the elements are important for a person in today's time as, competing against each other enhance the individual selfbelief and with cooperation, people can increase the quality and speed of any important work.

To commence with first point of view, good competition give birth to a stronger selfbelief. Competition help every person to grow and learn about their selves. when there is any competition in any task, it automatically increases the intensity and produce a better results. For example, in sports most of individual able to perform and secure their personal bests in events rather than in individual training sassions, beacuse they push their limits because of their competitors.

On other hand, cooperation help any organisation to increase the quality and speed of any project at same time. There are many new ideas can be born while working with each other, this will give benifits to the individuals as well as the organisation. For instance, there are many reports published by the news channels. In the reports they clearly mention that big companies workers work as a team for every tasks amd this is the main reason for their success.

In conclusion, I firmly maintain that both the abilities have their own benifits. This is primarely because compitetion give inner-strength while, cooperation in any work give birth to powerfull ideas.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear position: competition can build self-belief, while cooperation can improve the quality and speed of work. The sports example supports the competition argument, and the reference to teams in companies relates to cooperation. However, the two views are not developed equally: the cooperation paragraph relies on a broad claim about news reports, without explaining how teamwork produces better outcomes or giving a specific example. The opening also says both are important, but the conclusion could more directly weigh when each approach is most useful. To strengthen the response, explain each reason in more depth and connect the examples explicitly to the task’s settings of work, school, and daily life.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for competition and cooperation, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “To commence with” and “On other hand” make the two viewpoints easy to follow, and the position is consistent. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some ability to guide the reader through the argument. To make progression more fluent, avoid formulaic transitions and ensure each sentence develops the previous one. For example, the news-report example is introduced abruptly and its connection to the claim about quality and speed is not explained. Clearer links between claim, explanation, and example, along with more precise referencing, would make cohesion less mechanical.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “competition,” “cooperation,” “self-belief,” “quality,” and “organisation,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “push their limits.” However, the range and control are uneven: phrases such as “good competition give birth to” and “both the main pillars” are awkward collocations, while repeated use of “important” and “work” limits precision. Spelling errors, including “beacuse,” “benifits,” and “compitetion,” are noticeable and reduce accuracy. Build a bank of natural academic collocations and check spelling carefully; more precise wording would help express the argument without changing its meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrastive opening and clauses introduced by “while” and “because.” The overall meaning remains understandable, and the paragraph structure gives you a useful foundation. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with subject–verb agreement and sentence construction: “Competition help” and “cooperation help” need singular verb forms, while “There are many new ideas can be born” combines incompatible structures. There are also issues with articles and punctuation, as in “at same time” and the missing space after “channels.” To improve, practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, and use complex clauses only when their grammatical relationship is clear.
