Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent days, many people beleives that having a competative environment in the porofetional life along with in educational life can be benefical for us. While many others disagree with that and sayes we should work and lear togather rather than racing to achive the heaights all alone. In my opinion workig as a team is the most advantageous for us.

On the one hand, competation at work and in school has both benifites and drawbacks. One of the mejor advantage of it is people can have the earge to out race othes and be the first one among all which could boost one's productivity. Moreover, in schools studunts tries to be the the first in the class which eventually boost his attention to study. Due to competition workes who is new to work or don not know their job well can fall behind as they might not get any help from the others, this will hapmar the develpoment of a company as well as a country. Same way weeker student wiil fall in exams and might not able to face the pressure in extancive study. For instance in Bangladesh students have a very compatative environment in their schools as a result they have to study more and more to be in a good place. While this might be seen in a good way many student fails to do so and many tries to end their own lives.

On the other hand, working as a team has far more benefits than that. Working togather and healping ecah other in jobs can help people to be more creative as their will be mixed of ideas. For example, making a preasantation alone might not be so good but if it is done by a group it will be more intereasting and it will have more information on it. As for schools experts has foud out that students full potential can be seen if they do their stuied and other projects in a group. For example, in many countries in primary education their is no exams to rank student rather they teach their students group work and make them find out solutions in groups.

In conclusion, in some cases competition in life might be helpful but doing thing togather is much more effective for us and for our countries development. Therefore i strongly belive cooperative environment is the best.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear preference for cooperation in the introduction and conclusion. The competition paragraph gives relevant benefits, such as increased productivity and motivation to study, and also considers pressure and its possible consequences. The cooperation paragraph supports your view with examples of group presentations and collaborative learning. This covers the task well, but the development is uneven: the Bangladesh example makes a serious claim about student suicides without explaining the link or providing support, while the benefits of cooperation could be explored more fully. To strengthen the response, explain each example and show more precisely how it supports your argument, while maintaining the clear position already present.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your opinion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the discussion. Ideas generally progress from claims to examples, although some connections are abrupt. For instance, the paragraph on competition moves from workplace productivity to students’ exam pressure and then to Bangladesh without clearly linking these points. Some references, such as “that” in “disagree with that,” are not fully precise, and repeated use of “For example” makes the linking somewhat mechanical. Use clearer transitions between related points and vary how you introduce evidence to make the progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “competition,” “productivity,” “mixed of ideas,” “group work,” and “cooperative environment.” These choices communicate the main points, but the range and control are limited, and numerous spelling errors make the writing less fluent to read. Examples include “competative,” “benifites,” “studunts,” and “intereasting.” There are also inaccurate or unnatural expressions, such as “out race others,” “face the pressure in extensive study,” and “a mixed of ideas.” Aim to learn topic vocabulary in accurate phrases, and proofread spelling carefully. More precise collocations would help you express the contrast between individual competition and shared learning with greater clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “While,” “as,” and “which,” and the overall meaning is usually understandable. However, control of sentence structure and basic grammar is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For example, “One of the major advantage of it is people can have…” needs plural agreement and a clearer clause structure; “students tries” and “workers who is” show subject–verb agreement problems. In “if they do their studied,” the verb form is incorrect, while “many student fails” has a number-agreement error. Practise checking subject–verb agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries, then reread each sentence to ensure its clauses connect correctly.
