Student answer (Band 5.0)

As far as this topic is concerned, i would like to say that the impact of competition has always been debatable and has now become more controversial, with some people claiming that competiton at work, at school and in daily life is good thing, while others believe that we should try to cooperate more, rather than competing against each other. The substantial influence of this trend has sparked controversy over its potential impactin recent years. from my prespective, competition is not a good thing. This essay will further elaborate on my views regarding competition and will lead to a logical conclusion.

Analyzing the statement further, the primary reason behind competition is people's mentality because it's a negative thing. categorically discussing,it cannot be ignored because if people compete each other they might feel jelousy and jelousy is not a good thing. For example, some people compete each other at work. They believe that they will do good work than others. Some students compete each other because every students wants a good grades in this way they also feel jelousy.

Moving further, it is pertinent to mention that cooperation is a positive thing. It is imperative consider that, if people cooperate each other rather than competing against each other they would live a better life. They would have a strong relationship with each other. They will help each other and discuss their issues with each other. However, from my prespective, cooperation is important for people.

To encapsulate, I would like conclude that competition create jealousy among people and cooperation makes a good relationship among people. but i believe that people always cooperate with each other.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You state a clear opinion—“competition is not a good thing”—and include relevant points about jealousy and the benefits of cooperation. However, the discussion of competition is narrow and repetitive: the workplace and student examples both mainly repeat that people may feel jealous, without explaining when competition might be beneficial or developing the opposing view. The cooperation paragraph gives general benefits but little specific support, so the task is only partially addressed. The conclusion restates your preference rather than drawing together a balanced discussion. The response is also 248 words, below the required 250; the 24 words copied from the prompt do not count toward the minimum. Develop both sides with clearer reasons and examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate body paragraphs and a conclusion. The progression from competition to cooperation is generally easy to follow, and phrases such as “Moving further” signal a change of focus. However, several linking expressions feel mechanical or do not clarify the relationship between ideas, including “Analyzing the statement further” and “categorically discussing.” Ideas within paragraphs are also repetitive, and the examples are not clearly connected to a developed explanation. The introduction repeats the prompt and includes several statements about controversy before presenting your position. Use simpler, more precise transitions and organise each body paragraph around one main claim, followed by explanation and a specific example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “competition,” “cooperate,” “jealousy” and “relationship,” and attempt more formal expressions such as “pertinent to mention” and “imperative.” However, the range is limited, with key words repeated frequently, especially “people,” “each other” and “competition.” Several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors reduce accuracy: “compete each other,” “do good work than others,” “good grades,” and misspellings such as “competiton,” “prespective” and “jelousy.” Some formal phrases also sound unnatural in context. Build a more precise range for discussing advantages and disadvantages, and check spelling and common word partnerships. This would make your meaning clearer and your style more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a complex opening sentence with “while” and a conditional structure beginning “if people cooperate.” This shows some range, but control is inconsistent, and errors occur in basic sentence patterns. Examples include “if people compete each other,” “every students wants,” “they would live a better life” after a present-tense condition, and “competition create jealousy.” There are also punctuation and capitalisation problems, such as starting sentences with lowercase “from” and “but,” and missing spaces after full stops. These errors sometimes make the reader pause. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, conditional forms, articles and sentence boundaries, then proofread each sentence.
