Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people believe that competition in education, work and in our everday life is a good thing. However, others argued that cooperating each other and help out in every situation like teamwork is more beneficial than competing againsts. This essay discuss both view perspectice although i argued that competing each other motivate people to work hard and improve ourselves but cooperate to achieve long term success.

On the one hand, Competing is beneficial because it motivate people to work hard and acheive thier goals. When an individual compete with oor coworkers, they improve ourselves and often set high goals to acheive their target. This can help students, employes, to enhance their skills and become productive for organization. For example, when student set their criteria they work hard to acheive their certain goal like good grades while employes perform well they reward with bonuses. Moreover, healthy competition enhance our skills and acheive their full potential.

On the other hand, In cooperate world we prefer teamwork they support mutual work. It is benefical for every individual because there is no load of work at any single person, and also we can interact with each other to built good connections. When they work in teams they share thier ideas, and gain knowldege from others which help every individual to improve our skills. For instance, When an employees they divide their task according to profession and their strenght they work together to solve difficult problem. Because of teamwork they finish their work in time. As a result, cooperation produce better outcome for companies and also for employees.

In Conclusion, most people argued teamwork is better then competing againt each others. Both have different point of view, but in my opinnion i prefer competition is more benificial beacuse of that we can achieve their target. However, teamwork become indivdual more creative because everyone has different idea so we can gain more knowledge.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the question and give a personal view: the body paragraphs explain how competition can encourage effort and how cooperation supports teamwork. Examples about students seeking good grades, employees receiving bonuses, and colleagues sharing tasks are relevant. However, the position is not fully clear or consistent: the introduction favours competition alongside cooperation for long-term success, while the conclusion says you prefer competition but also stresses teamwork’s benefits. The discussion remains general, and points such as how cooperation leads to long-term success are asserted rather than explained. To strengthen the response, state one clear position and develop each main idea with a more specific explanation or example, showing how it supports your view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In Conclusion” help readers follow the broad organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: several ideas are placed together without clear links, and the conclusion repeats points rather than resolving the contrast between competition and cooperation. Some linking expressions are awkward or unclear, such as “Because of teamwork they finish their work in time,” which does not connect smoothly to the preceding example. Improve cohesion by organising each paragraph around one central claim, then explaining and illustrating it in sequence. Use pronouns and transitions only when their references are clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “teamwork,” “mutual work,” “productive,” “bonuses,” and “achieve their full potential.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main ideas, but the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “work,” “achieve,” and “skills.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, including “everday,” “benefical,” “strenght,” and “competing againsts,” which sometimes make the meaning less clear. Some combinations are unnatural, such as “cooperating each other” and “in cooperate world.” Build a more precise set of collocations for this topic and check spelling and word forms carefully; for example, use “cooperate with one another” and “in a cooperative environment.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “when,” and “while.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, sentence construction, and punctuation, sometimes making ideas difficult to follow. Examples include “This essay discuss,” “it motivate people,” and “cooperation produce,” where the subject and verb do not agree. In “When an employees they divide their task,” the sentence structure is incomplete or duplicated, while “they improve ourselves” shifts pronouns inconsistently. Capitalisation after full stops is also unreliable. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and complete clause patterns first, then combine ideas using subordinate clauses while checking that each sentence has a clear subject and verb.
