Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, many people thank that they should interact with each other more, rather than competing with each other and some people believed that competition at work areas, at education and in day to day life is a better thing. Yes, i agree with this statement. I will discuss why i agreed below.

On the first hand, we are social animal. We should live in the society with proper terms and conditions in the areas we live because everyone have right to live with respect, pride and dignity. For example, if we live properly we can help each other in everyone hard days without any cricumstances. Therefore, we should socialize more and cooperate more rather than fighting with each other.

On the second hand, competition is a part of life where people competete each other in games, school and in day to day life. Its a better while competing among people in terms of educations, sports and other activities because it helps to make them better in everything. For instance, if we study hard and there is competition we could be first in the class. Moreover, it very impoertant for every students, cooperatives and in every sector.

In my view, both are very important things. I agreed with both statements because in different scene it has different stories like competition in good things and should stay happily cooperating with each other in one thing is very important.

To sum, we should live by understanding each other rather than fighting against with other in proper way and competiting in school and day to day life is a good thing.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the discussion: cooperation is linked to social support, while competition is presented as a way to improve in education and sport. Your examples, such as helping others during difficult times and trying to come first in class, are relevant. However, the discussion is only partial because these points are briefly stated rather than explained in depth. Your position is also not fully clear: you initially say you agree with the statement, then conclude that both views are important, without explaining how you balance them or when one should take priority. Develop each view with a clearer reason and example, and state a consistent opinion throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with separate paragraphs for cooperation, competition, your view and a conclusion. Basic signposting such as “For example,” “Moreover” and “To sum” helps readers follow the main topics. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and some links are mechanical or unclear. “On the first hand” and “On the second hand” do not form the usual paired expression, while the final paragraph repeats earlier points rather than bringing them together. The sentence beginning “In my view” is difficult to follow because its ideas are crowded together. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each reason to its explanation, then make the conclusion directly reflect your stated position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “cooperate,” “competition,” “dignity” and “socialize,” so the reader can understand the general discussion. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear. For example, “compete each other” and “in terms of educations” are not natural expressions, and “different scene” does not clearly convey your intended meaning. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “cricumstances” and “impoertant.” Build a more precise set of phrases for discussing benefits and drawbacks, and check spelling and collocations when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a conditional example beginning “if we study hard,” and most of the main ideas can be understood. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence structure, agreement, verb forms and punctuation. Examples include “everyone have right,” “I agreed,” and “it very impoertant,” where the sentence needs more accurate agreement or a complete verb structure. The opening sentence also joins several ideas without clear punctuation, and “In my view” becomes difficult to parse because clauses are not clearly organised. Practise building accurate subject–verb patterns and use shorter, complete sentences before adding more complex clauses.
