Student answer (Band 6.0)
Frequent innovation are driving fast changes in the world. As a result, citizens are observing serious competition everywhere. In such condition some individuals argue competition to be beneficial, whereas some believe to maintain cooperative approach. Discussing both views I will share my opinion.
Getting comfortable with fast paced world, some people give importance to competition at work, at school and in daily life. Competition provides a platform to grind an individual's skill. Employees at work place are provided daily target, and on its completion they are rewarded or appreciated. This mentality not only help adults but also youngsters to try to achieve something new. It pushes competitors to step out from their comfort zone and it directly helps in overall progress. Companies in manufacturing sector, IT sector, etc. promote such competitive target among its employees to increase the annual turnover. As a result, it benefits both the company and its employee.
Despite competitive environment to be positive, some citizens believe to work in cooperative culture. One of the main cause could be due to less resistance towards stress. These people believe in stable and slow paced growth. However without competition, an individual cannot increase their capability. It also results in reduced progress for both, the company and citizen. With this mindset boredom can increase significantly, thus resulting in lower benefits in skill development. But considering positive side of this mentality, it gives a stable growth and stress free life.
To conclude, discussing benefits of both kind of mentality, I would like to provide my opinion in favour for competing with peers at work, at school or in daily life because it nurtures improvements rather than just slow paced development.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and state a clear preference for competition in the introduction and conclusion. The discussion of competition is more developed: you explain how targets can motivate employees and young people, and how this may benefit companies. By contrast, the case for cooperation is less fully explained. You mention lower stress and stable growth, but do not show clearly how cooperation works in practice or why it can produce good outcomes. The claim that people who prefer cooperation cannot increase their capability also oversimplifies that view. To strengthen the response, develop both sides with balanced reasoning and a specific example, then explain more precisely why your preferred approach is better. The response meets the task’s length requirement; nine words copied from the prompt were not counted.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. The progression from the benefits of competition to the possible advantages of cooperation is easy to follow, and linking phrases such as “As a result,” “Despite,” and “To conclude” help signal the stages of the argument. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Despite competitive environment to be positive” does not form a clear transition, and “However without competition” introduces a claim that conflicts with the paragraph’s discussion of cooperation without explaining the relationship. Use more precise transitions and make each paragraph’s central point explicit. Clearer links between claims and examples would make the argument flow more naturally.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “competition,” “cooperative culture,” “comfort zone,” “annual turnover,” and “skill development.” These choices allow you to discuss workplace and personal outcomes, and the meaning is generally clear. There are, however, some inaccurate or unnatural collocations and word forms, such as “grind an individual's skill,” “daily target,” and “provide my opinion in favour for competing.” “Fast paced” and “slow paced” are also repeated rather than varied. Aim for more natural academic phrasing and check whether words combine idiomatically; for instance, describe competition as helping people “develop their skills” and refer to “daily targets.” Greater precision and less repetition would make your vocabulary more effective.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including cause-and-effect structures such as “As a result” and a contrast introduced by “Despite.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Subject–verb agreement is inaccurate in “Frequent innovation are” and “This mentality … help”; articles and sentence structure are also problematic in “In such condition” and “Despite competitive environment to be positive.” The final sentence, “I would like to provide my opinion in favour for competing,” has an incorrect preposition pattern. Review agreement, articles, and prepositions, and revise complex sentences to ensure their clauses connect correctly. More consistently accurate sentence construction would improve clarity while preserving the range you are attempting.
