Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people state that having competition in terms of work and at school in daily life is a good thing, while others argue that there is no need of competition with each other.Instead we should cooperate more with people. In my opinion, being more competitive makes an individual more passionable towards acheiving their goals.
On the one hand, being competitive towards an individual is not a good thing because in day-to-day life we face many situations which require more cooperation rather than competition. When we cooperate with people we gain more positive reactions rather than negative reactions in our life. For example, if a person won a game in a competition with us, we should feel more happy for that person and be cooperative, rather than holding a grudge on him/her.In daily life, if a person have to lead a happy life they have to cooperate more and be themselves, rather than thinking everthing as a competition in life.
On the other hand, in todays word, it is more important to have a competition between people in daily life because by being competitive they can acheive more and improve themselves.Having a competitor is good in school as well as in work, so that they can do more work as they are dedicated to win rather than losing to a person. For instance, by having competition, a student can get good marks and acheive good position in the class, and by seeing him as a competitor even more students read more and improve themselves.
In conclusion, Although cooperation is important for people in daily life.I believe that competition is essential for a person to reach success in their school, work and in daily life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You discuss both sides of the question and state a clear preference for competition in the introduction and conclusion. The examples are relevant: cooperation after someone wins a game illustrates the value of supportive behaviour, while the student example shows how competition may encourage effort. This meets the task, but the two views are not developed equally clearly. The cooperation paragraph focuses mainly on being happy for a winner and living happily, without explaining in much detail how cooperation benefits people at work or school. The competition paragraph gives a more direct link to achievement, though its claims remain broad. To strengthen the response, explain the practical effects of each approach and support them with more specific examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. However, some connections are mechanical, and the relationship between ideas within paragraphs is not always smooth. For example, the cooperation paragraph moves from reactions to a game winner to the general claim that people should “be themselves,” without clearly linking that point to cooperation. The conclusion also begins with “Although cooperation is important” as a sentence fragment, which interrupts the flow. Use clearer links between each claim and its explanation, and make sure each paragraph develops one central line of reasoning.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to discuss the topic, including relevant terms such as “cooperate,” “competitor,” “dedicated,” and “reach success.” However, the range is repetitive, particularly with repeated forms of “competition,” “people,” and “good.” Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “more passionable towards achieving their goals,” “a competitor is good,” and “good position in the class.” Spelling errors, including “acheiving,” “acheive,” and “everthing,” also reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points, but more precise and natural phrasing would improve the response. Build topic vocabulary around motivation, collaboration, performance, and achievement, and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast structure in the introduction and conditional phrasing such as “if a person won a game.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “if a person have to lead” needs subject–verb agreement, and “Although cooperation is important for people in daily life” is a dependent clause presented as a complete sentence. There are also punctuation and sentence-boundary problems, such as missing spaces after full stops and commas joining long ideas without clear separation. Practise checking agreement, complete sentence structure, and punctuation, while continuing to use a mix of sentence patterns.
