Student answer (Band 6.0)
Competition is now everywhere in the world and in every field. Is it a good or bad thing? Many people believe that competition plays a role of driving force in success and concentration. There is also an arguement that cooperation helps us motivate and get different point of views. In my point of view, cooperation is more effective.
Competiton is very important for anyone who wants to achieve his goals. Some individuals opine that the people who compete against each other, show better results. For example, if there are 30 students in a class, the students, who want to get rewards, will work very hard and focus entirely on their studies and goals. This will benefit only single student who is in the competition. Some students take extra pressure because of competition. It can also be a source of mental restlessness. If anyone cannot get his/her desired outcomes, he/she will definately feel low.
Some people argue that cooperation is required in every field of life to create friendly environment around ourselves. When people do a task together, they can understand other's point of views. It also helps them to get to know something they don't know. They can share their experiences with one another and discuss outcomes of thier studies and procedures. If you don't understand any topic, anyone will help you out in clearing your concepts and vice versa. Success of group will motivate all the members of group. They will feel proud, if anyone of them performed better and achieve outstanding results.
To put it into a nutshell, competition and cooperation both play a key role in a person's or student's success. However, I strongy believe that we must cooperate with each other. When you help others or work together, it give them courage to get better.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You discuss both sides and state a clear preference for cooperation, so the response addresses the main parts of the task. The competition paragraph gives a relevant classroom example and explains possible pressure on students; the cooperation paragraph also describes sharing knowledge and mutual encouragement. However, the comparison is not fully developed: the claim that competition benefits “only single student” is too absolute, and the discussion focuses mainly on students rather than also considering work or daily life. Your opinion is clear, but the final point that cooperation “give them courage” could be explained with a more specific example. Develop and qualify these ideas to make the argument more convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your position. This makes the discussion easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “For example,” “However,” and “To put it into a nutshell.” At times, though, connections feel mechanical or the reference is unclear. For instance, “This will benefit only single student” follows the class example but does not clearly explain how the result relates to the wider argument. The cooperation paragraph moves through several benefits without grouping them into a clear sequence. Use more precise referencing and connect each example directly to the point it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “competition,” “cooperation,” “pressure,” “experiences,” and “outcomes.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “mental restlessness” and “friendly environment.” However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “plays a role of driving force,” “different point of views,” and “Success of group.” Spelling errors such as “arguement,” “Competiton,” “definately,” and “thier” also reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and naturalness. Build a bank of common academic collocations and check spelling carefully during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and more complex forms, including conditional structures such as “If anyone cannot get his/her desired outcomes, he/she will…” and a relative clause in “the students, who want to get rewards.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “it give them courage” has subject–verb disagreement, while “Success of group” needs an article or possessive determiner. The sentence beginning “Some individuals opine that the people who compete…” is also awkwardly structured, with an unnecessary comma before “show.” Try varying sentence patterns while checking agreement, articles, and punctuation; this will make the argument smoother without sacrificing clarity.
