Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is argued that, competing each other at institutions, jobs and in daily routine is necessary. While others consider that we should support each other istead of doing competition. This essay will discuss both sides before giving my own view.

On the one hand, doing competition at study level, work places and in daily lives are not beneficial,it may creates jealousy and hate. People may become envy to each other. However, it can disturb the environment,as well as it affects their overall health. For example, In my country mostly people do not cooeprate with each other on work places. They were always ready to manipualte each other. The reason behind was they donot want to see other person more successful.

On the other hand, supporting each other and cooeperating with everyone in the school and workplaces are beneficial because it makes people closer to each other. Moreover, this practice can create a strong and healthy bond between individuals.Mostly students do competition for achieving good grades and on the other hand in offices mostly people do competition for achieving higher position at the office, so healthy competition is good .For instance,In Sialkot, many children cooperate and also help each other in assignments and daily tasks. It can create a healthy relation between them and they also get a chance to develop a new skills by doing group studies.

From my perspective, although competition has some advantages ,but coopertion is more essential . Nowadays there are many problems like climate changes so it can not be solve by doing competition it can reduce by grou

To conclude, competition can motivate each others, but i believe cooperation is more benefical because it creates strong realtionships and achieve better results for everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the discussion and state a preference for cooperation, particularly in “cooperation is more essential.” The examples about workplace behaviour and students helping with assignments are relevant. However, the two views are not explained with equal clarity: the first body paragraph mainly describes the harms of competition, while the second mixes the benefits of cooperation with examples of competition for grades and promotion, without clearly explaining when competition is beneficial. Your point about climate change is promising but ends before its reasoning is completed. Develop each side with a clear claim, explanation and example, and make your position consistent from the introduction through the conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand” and “To conclude” help identify the main sections. However, progression within the paragraphs is uneven. The second body paragraph shifts from cooperation to competition and back, which makes the relationship between its ideas difficult to follow. The climate-change point in the opinion paragraph is also left unfinished, interrupting the argument. Some linking is mechanical, with repeated “Moreover,” “For example” and “so.” Organise each paragraph around one main point, use pronouns and linking phrases to show how examples support it, and ensure every idea is completed before moving on.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “jealousy,” “cooperate,” “healthy bond” and “successful,” so the general meaning is usually understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, such as “doing competition,” “do competition” and “manipulate each other.” Spelling errors, including “istead,” “cooeprate” and “benefical,” also make the writing less clear and controlled. Aim to learn topic-specific collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise expressions for workplace and educational contexts would help you explain the contrast between constructive competition and cooperation without repeating the same basic terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a contrast with “although” and a reason introduced by “because.” However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. For example, “doing competition … are not beneficial, it may creates” combines clauses incorrectly and has subject–verb errors; “it can not be solve” also uses an incorrect verb form. Agreement and tense are inconsistent in “They were always ready” after a present-tense description. Missing spaces after punctuation and inconsistent capitalisation further affect accuracy. Practise building complete sentences with one main clause and correctly joined supporting clauses, then check verb agreement, tense, articles and punctuation.
