Student answer (Band 5.0)

Few people believe having competition with colleagues, fwllows at school and in everyday life but some people think we need to cooperate with each other instead of having competition. In this paragrapgh. This essay will highlight the key points of this topic and argue that it is a good thing to have a competition with each other.

We live our lives in a very stable way when we think positive about others and have no competition at all and focus more on our own growth. Our mental health stays calm and we ffeel more relaxed if we do not run after chasing what others have. Some people think they are doing fine because they do not have something new in their minds. They think if they will cooperate to others it is way more kinder. But can this acutally help us move forward or having new dreams?.

If we do not chase something to get we might stuck at the same place forever. When we see someone running after their dreams, we get motivation. Dreams are always achieved when there is someone else to steal it from you otherwise we do not run for it. Although it will be difficult, students will try thier best to surpass the other student. In this way they stay more focused on their goals rather than being relaxed. Same goes for work and daily life.

In conclusion, we should take place in more competitions to be active and getting what we want.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response takes a position in favour of competition and gives relevant reasons, including that seeing others pursue goals can provide motivation and encourage students to focus. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, and the case for cooperation is only briefly touched on through comments about calmness and mental health; it is not explained as a substantial argument. The claim that “Dreams are always achieved when there is someone else to steal it from you” is unclear and does not effectively support your position. The conclusion repeats your preference without drawing together the discussion. The response is also two words below the required minimum. Develop both sides with clear examples and explain how your reasons support your opinion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation: an introduction, separate paragraphs for ideas, and a concluding sentence. The discussion moves from the possible benefits of avoiding competition to the motivational effects of competing, so the reader can identify the general direction. However, progression is limited because the first body paragraph does not clearly develop cooperation as a distinct view, and the conclusion adds little beyond repeating the introduction. Linking is sometimes mechanical, as in “In this way” and “Same goes for work and daily life,” while “In this paragrapgh” is an incomplete, misplaced sentence that interrupts the opening. Use clear topic sentences for each viewpoint, connect each example to its main point, and make the conclusion summarise the comparison.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main topic, with relevant terms such as “competition,” “cooperate,” “motivation,” “focused,” and “goals.” There are attempts to express ideas beyond basic statements, including “run after chasing what others have” and “surpass the other student,” but some phrasing is unnatural or imprecise and can make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “Dreams are always achieved when there is someone else to steal it from you” does not clearly convey the intended point. Spelling errors such as “fwllows,” “paragrapgh,” “f feel,” and “acutally” are noticeable. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and proofread spelling; for instance, use “be motivated by others’ progress” rather than an unclear image of someone stealing a dream.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response uses mostly simple sentence patterns, with some attempts at longer structures, such as “Although it will be difficult, students will try their best to surpass the other student.” However, control is inconsistent, and several sentences contain errors in structure or grammatical forms. “If we do not chase something to get we might stuck” needs a clearer clause and a verb such as “might get stuck”; “if they will cooperate” uses an unsuitable future form in a conditional clause; and “it is way more kinder” has an incorrect comparative construction. The opening also contains a sentence fragment, “In this paragrapgh.” Work on conditional forms, verb patterns, comparatives, and complete sentence boundaries, then check punctuation and agreement during revision.
