Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays some people think that competition at work at school and in daily life is a good thing. However, others people believe that help each other instead competing. In my opinion both are important but cooperate is better.

On the other hand, there are many advantages of competition work. In many schools students participants in different activities and doing competition each other. For example, students compete with each other to get good marks in exam. Those students participate in competition the biggest benefit of these students the confiedence level is built and he never give up and participate in different activities. We should advice the childern to take part in different activities and this way childern learn some thing new from each others.

Although, we should cooperate with each others and in this way people are doing respect each other. We should not competing each other. Many people in the world cooperate with poor people and help each other in this way we help to remove the poverty and crime rate is low by cooperate the each other. cooperation is very important. When people work together they can share ideas and solve problem easily. For example, students can work in groups and help each other with their studies. We should respect and support each other.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both sides and state a clear preference in “both are important but cooperate is better.” The examples about students competing for marks and people helping those in poverty are relevant, and you also mention cooperation helping people share ideas and solve problems. However, the discussion is only partial: the benefits of competition are mainly linked to confidence, while the cooperation argument is asserted rather than fully explained. The response contains 198 words, so it is 52 words below the 250-word minimum; 17 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. This limits the space available to develop both views. Extend each main point with a clear explanation and a specific example, and make your opinion more fully reasoned.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic structure: an introduction, a paragraph about competition, and a paragraph about cooperation. This helps the reader identify the two views, and examples generally appear beside the point they support. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and several ideas are joined without clear relationships. For instance, the competition paragraph moves from marks to confidence and then to learning new things without explaining the links. Connectors such as “On the other hand” and “Although” are used, but “Although” does not introduce a complete contrastive clause here. Repeated references to “each other” also make the writing feel repetitive. Use clearer topic sentences and link each example explicitly to the argument it illustrates.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a small set of relevant words, including “competition,” “cooperate,” “confidence,” “poverty,” and “solve problems,” so the main topic is usually understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning less clear. Examples include “competition work,” “students participants,” “doing respect,” and “the confiedence level is built.” Spelling errors such as “childern” and “confiedence” also reduce accuracy. Aim to learn common topic collocations and check word forms and spelling. More precise expressions for competing, cooperating, and describing outcomes would help you explain your ideas without relying on repeated basic phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including “When people work together they can share ideas and solve problem easily.” This shows an effort to express cause and effect, but the range remains limited and errors occur frequently. For example, “others people believe” has an agreement error, “cooperate is better” uses the wrong grammatical form, and “students compete with each other to get good marks in exam” has article and number problems. Some longer sentences are difficult to follow because clauses are joined without a complete structure, as in “Those students participate in competition the biggest benefit…” Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea, then add subordinate clauses and check verb forms, articles, and plurals.
