Student answer (Band 5.0)

Competition has a significant effect on people's life. Some people believed that it is essential for work, at school and in daily life whereas some people think that they should cooperate rather than competing againt each other. From my perspective competion plays a vital role in every occupation.

On the one hand, competition makes a person more active, confident and enthusiastic in many professions such as in games, competion is very neccessary. When a person plays games against the other player they try hard to take down the opposition. In addition, in schools, children always try to take first position, complete their homework on time just to impress the other students and teachers. Moreover, competion is often seen in cousins. Cousins always want to achieve something bigger and outstanding than other one such as clothes and high education.

On the other hand, some companies required friendship for their businesses. If they work hard together they may reach to the peak point such as shop workers. They often provide each other costumers and in return they get 20 percent profit. In schools, brillient students should help disadvantage students to pass the exams.

From my perspective, less compition is fundamental in every aspects of life but we should not maxamise it. To illustrates, compition in schools and in cousins should not be promoted beacuse it can diturbs the home and school environment. If cousins start a conflict over something small it can affect their relationship.

In conclution, competion has been increased among the people. It should be demolished from everyday life but government jobs forcing individuals to be in a compition. We should work on what extend we compete or avoid compition.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You discuss both competition and cooperation, and your position is present: you say competition is important but should be limited. The examples about students, shop workers and cousins are relevant to the topic. However, the response only partially develops the discussion. The benefits of competition are asserted—for example, that it makes people “more active, confident and enthusiastic”—but the explanation of how this improves outcomes is limited. The cooperation paragraph is also brief, and the example about shop workers sharing customers and profit is not clearly explained. Your final position is difficult to reconcile with the conclusion that competition “should be demolished” while also being necessary in government jobs. State your view consistently and explain the reasons behind each example more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and several ideas are placed together without a clear link. For instance, the paragraph on competition moves from games to schoolwork and then cousins, without explaining how these examples build on one another. Some linking phrases are repetitive or awkward, and references such as “the other one” are not precise. Improve cohesion by grouping related examples, using clear topic sentences, and showing explicitly how each example supports the paragraph’s main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “competition,” “cooperate,” “opposition,” “occupation,” and “environment,” so the main subject is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “competition” and “compete.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “againt,” “neccessary,” “brillient,” and “conclution,” as well as inaccurate or unnatural combinations such as “reach to the peak point” and “take first position.” These choices sometimes make the intended meaning less clear. Build a wider set of accurate expressions for discussing rivalry and teamwork, and check spelling and collocations carefully. More precise wording would help you explain your examples without relying on repeated general terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple and longer sentences, including conditional structures such as “If they work hard together they may reach…” and “If cousins start a conflict…”. However, the range remains limited, and complex sentences are often not controlled accurately. Verb forms and agreement are inconsistent: “Some people believed” should match the present-tense discussion, while “some companies required” and “they get 20 percent profit” also need more accurate tense and article use. Other examples include “competition plays” alongside the misshapen phrase “less competition is fundamental in every aspects,” and missing punctuation after introductory phrases. These errors recur and can make relationships between ideas harder to follow. Practise accurate present-tense statements, subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries before adding more complex structures.
