Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, some people think competition at work, at school is a good thing while others believe that we should try to cooperate more, rather than competing against eachother and this has become widely debated topic around the world. While some people believe that it has benefits other think that it can cause problem. In my opinion, the advantages of this are greater than disadvantages and i will discuss both sides below.
On one hand, some people think that this is a not a good idea the main reason for this believe is that, if we start competition in work at school then this will effect the work and students will start reaching the good performance in order to make down to others, they will lose focus in learning and activities in order to compete good in compitition. Because of this, a number of people feel worried about the effects it may have on society and family life. This shows that this idea is not beneficial and useful. This is why people do not support this idea in their daily lives.
On the other hand, many people including myself believe that it has benefits. I personally support this view , because if we do competetion in work in school then it will be more effective in positive results students will start focusing and learning more for bringing good results, in order to perform good then other students. For example , In Pakistan many people have seen positive changes because of this in thier daily school task. This clearly shows how much useful and beneficial this idea for people in society. As a result, most people now accept and support this idea.
In conclusion, although both views have some truth. I personally believe that positive side is stronger. If people use it wisely and carefully, it will bring more good results than the bad one. I hope that people and individual will work together for better and successful future for everone.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You discuss both competition and cooperation-related concerns, and your position—that competition has greater advantages—is clear in the introduction and conclusion. However, the task is only partly addressed because the opposing view is not accurately developed as cooperation: the first body paragraph mainly describes harmful effects of competition, without explaining how cooperation would address them. The supporting ideas are also general. For instance, you say students may focus more and that Pakistan has seen “positive changes,” but you do not give a specific example or explain the results. Develop each side with a clear reason and a concrete illustration, and make the contrast between competing and cooperating explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting contrasting views, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the intended direction. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes repetitive or unclear. In the first body paragraph, several sentences repeat that competition is not beneficial without adding a distinct supporting point; the second similarly repeats that it is useful. Some links are also awkward, such as “This shows that this idea is not beneficial” after the point about worry. Use each paragraph to develop one main reason through explanation and an example, and make references such as “this” clearly identify the idea being discussed.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the basic argument, including “competition,” “cooperate,” “performance,” and “positive results.” However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “beneficial and useful” and “good results.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, including “eachother,” “compitition,” “competetion,” and “thier,” which reduce accuracy. Some combinations are unnatural, such as “make down to others” and “perform good then other students,” and may make the intended meaning harder to follow. Build a more precise range for discussing outcomes and collaboration, and check spelling and common word partnerships before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a conditional structure in “If people use it wisely and carefully, it will bring more good results.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. For example, “if we start competition in work at school then this will effect the work” has an unclear grammatical pattern, while “although both views have some truth” is left as a dependent clause rather than a complete sentence. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “this has become widely debated topic” and “many people … believe that it has benefits.” Practise building complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and proofread punctuation and article use.
