Student answer (Band 6.5)
Different people present different opinion that at wrok, at school and in the daily life, there must be competition while some argue that people should try to cooperate more, rather than having competition against one another. In my view, cooperation among the people will help the person grow socially and maintai harmony.
Competition is a necessary form to build motivation and productivity in a person. When people face a situation where there is a rival, they are motivated to push past their limits and come out of their comfort zone to achieve their goal. For example, in a school where individual goal matters more than group works, competition is necessary for them to deliver a peak performance. This pressure will push them to move forward and be better than the next person. Therefore, competition is necessary for high achievement.
Cooperation is vital in workplaces where collective achievement is more necessary than individual goals. Teamwork allows individual to share personal skills, knowledge, reduce work load and solve problems faster then working individually. In a company, work relys on people sharing their knowlegde, skills, informations which will later be combined and used to achieve a goal of the company effectively and efficiently. As a result, it minimizes human error and reach goal successfully. Thus, cooperation is required tackling large issues that requires unified efforts and hared knowledge.
In conclusion, competition plays a vital role in building personal growth and motivation, cooperation remains essential for maintaining social harmony and solving major challenges. In my opinion, cooperation is better than competiting against one another.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear preference for cooperation in the introduction and conclusion. The competition paragraph explains how rivalry can motivate people to exceed their limits, while the cooperation paragraph gives relevant workplace benefits, including sharing skills and solving problems faster. This meets the task well, and the examples are pertinent. However, the two views are not developed equally: the case for competition is mainly framed around school and individual achievement, while the cooperation argument is more fully explained through workplace teamwork. The claim that cooperation maintains social harmony is also introduced but not supported with a specific reason or example. To strengthen the response further, develop this point and make your comparison of the two approaches more explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your position. Ideas generally progress logically within each paragraph, and linking expressions such as “For example,” “Therefore,” and “As a result” help show relationships between claims. The contrast between competition and cooperation is also easy to follow. At times, however, the links feel formulaic, with several sentences ending in a similar concluding statement (“Therefore,” “Thus”). Some references are not fully clear, such as “them” in the school example, which could refer to students or schools. Use a wider range of transitions and make references more precise to make the progression smoother and less repetitive.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “motivation,” “productivity,” “rival,” “teamwork,” “collective achievement,” and “unified efforts.” These choices communicate the main ideas and show attempts to use more formal language. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, however, such as “different opinion,” “a peak performance,” “work relys on people,” and “hared knowledge.” Spelling errors including “wrok,” “maintai,” “knowlegde,” and “competiting” also reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent understanding, but they limit the precision and naturalness of the vocabulary. Check spelling carefully and learn common word partnerships, for example, “achieve peak performance” and “work relies on people sharing their knowledge.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional and relative structures such as “When people face a situation where there is a rival…” and “issues that requires unified efforts.” The overall meaning is usually clear, and the paragraphs include several attempts to connect clauses. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with articles, agreement, and sentence construction. For example, “Teamwork allows individual to share” needs a plural or an article, and “work relys” has a subject–verb agreement problem. In “Thus, cooperation is required tackling large issues,” the verb pattern is incomplete; use “required to tackle.” The final sentence also needs a more accurate form than “better than competiting.” Review agreement and verb patterns, then proofread each sentence for complete, correctly linked clauses.
