Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many individuals think that competition at work, at school and in daily life is a better thing, while others assume that we should try to work collectively with each other, rather than against each other. From my perspective, I completely support the idea of cooperating because it gives opportunity to acquire knowledge from each other.

On the other hand, competition is a better way to get your goals, because it gives you a reason that you should try hard to surpass that person or many other things. In addition, emulation in any category gives chance to do our ta quickly or better from others. For instance, just last couple of days me and my friend make a rivalry for getting better score in math, due to our emulation we both try hard to cross each other and we both got high score. Competition gives a motive why people should work hard and why we should make efforts for any task.

Looking at the data in detail, the category of cooperating is more supportive for many individuals because it provided a way to share ideas to each other or developed skills from one another. For example, just last week our school teacher make task for making a computer assignment and she tell that its totally depends on you , whether you should work together or alone . So me and my friends agreed to work together and our combine strategies and hard work result a top 1 assignment in our class as compared to those who made self assignment were placed last in our class because of lack of ideas and information.

In conclusion, cooperating work gives you opportunities to work with mature and high level of genius persons that not only make your work and daily life task simple and meaningful but it also provided better practical knowledge . However, rivalry make you efficient and smarter. At last, i firmly support cooperate tasks for better learning.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both sides of the question and state a clear preference for cooperation in the opening and conclusion. The examples from your maths competition and group computer assignment are relevant and help explain why competition can motivate effort and cooperation can support learning. This gives the response a solid, task-focused foundation. However, the two views are not developed equally: the competition paragraph mainly repeats that rivalry encourages people to work hard, while the cooperation paragraph gives more explanation of sharing ideas and developing skills. The conclusion also introduces the idea of working with “mature and high level of genius persons” without explaining it. To strengthen the response further, develop the consequences and limitations of each approach and connect them more directly to your opinion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for competition and cooperation, and a conclusion. The examples generally appear alongside the point they support, so the reader can follow the main argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes repetitive, particularly in the competition paragraph, where several sentences restate that rivalry encourages effort. Some linking phrases are awkward or do not clearly signal the relationship between ideas; “Looking at the data in detail” is unsuitable because no data is being discussed. References such as “that person or many other things” are also unclear. Use more precise transitions and organise each body paragraph around one main claim, followed by explanation and an example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “competition,” “cooperating,” “share ideas,” “skills,” and “strategies,” which allows you to discuss both views. There are also attempts at less common terms, such as “emulation” and “rivalry.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural and make the writing less fluent: “emulation” is repeated where “competition” or “rivalry” would fit better, and “top 1 assignment” is not a natural way to describe the result. Phrases such as “better thing” and “high level of genius persons” are also imprecise. Aim for accurate collocations and avoid repeating the same general words; for example, describe how cooperation “fosters learning” or how competition “motivates people to improve.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mixture of simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “while,” and “whether,” and your main meaning is usually understandable. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction recur. For example, “me and my friend make a rivalry” should use a past-tense verb and a more suitable subject construction, while “our teacher make task” and “she tell” also need past-tense forms and appropriate articles. The sentence beginning “So me and my friends agreed” contains a long, loosely joined structure that would be clearer if divided into shorter sentences. There are also punctuation and capitalisation slips, including lowercase “i.” Check tense consistency when recounting past events and proofread each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
