Student answer (Band 5.5)

A cluster of like-minded people think that competition at school and at work is the best thing while others do not follow the same suits and believe that cooperation is more beneficial instead of competition. I will discuss both sides before giving my opinion in the upcoming paragarphs.

Commencing with former view why people think that competition at every place is the best thing. First and formost is, to reach the first position as it helps them to bring the feeling of compititors and create their positions to achieve a goal. For-example that school they are many competition are conducted that encourage them to grab first position and get the prize.Secondly, nowadays its time to cut throat competition where students need to compete the competitors to get job or secure place in the colleges as the result is observed on the rank base.

Nevertheless, there are a few masses who contradict the above said and reckon that feelings of cooperate should be in the students as they learn the quality of leaderships. For example, the most of MNC companies seek the cooperative quality among their team leaders which help them to gain their goal. Moreover, the feelings of cooperations brings the kindness in the human beings which assist them to live in the society.

To conclude, both points have been discussed above and both have their own convincing power. If i consider both of them logically, i reckon the formar side is more effective and beneficial as in today's era, a person should have competitor feeling.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the question and state a preference for competition in the conclusion, so the response is relevant to the task. The discussion of competition includes reasons such as striving for a high position and competing for jobs or college places; the cooperation paragraph also gives a workplace example and links cooperation with kindness. However, these points are mostly asserted rather than explained, and some claims are unclear—for instance, how competition creates “their positions” or why it is “the best thing.” Your own opinion appears clearly only at the end and is supported by little reasoning. Develop each main idea with a specific explanation or example, and make your position explicit in the introduction as well as the conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the main stages of the discussion. You also use signposting such as “Nevertheless,” “Moreover,” and “To conclude.” However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because ideas are joined mechanically or their relationship is unclear. For example, the sentence about competition helping people “create their positions to achieve a goal” does not clearly explain the preceding point. The opening phrase “Commencing with former view” is also an awkward transition, and the conclusion largely repeats that both views were discussed. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each reason to its explanation or example; ensure punctuation separates sentences and clauses accurately.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “cooperation,” “leadership,” “competitors,” and “cut throat competition.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to understand. Examples include “do not follow the same suits,” “feelings of cooperate,” and “competitor feeling”; these do not express the intended ideas naturally. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “paragarphs,” “formost,” “compititors,” and “formar.” Aim for precise, conventional expressions rather than forcing less familiar phrases. For instance, describe people as “striving to outperform others” or say that cooperation helps teams “achieve shared goals.” Proofreading spelling and word forms would also make your ideas clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “while,” “as,” and “which.” However, the range is limited, and complex sentences often contain errors that make the relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “First and formost is, to reach the first position” is not a complete, well-formed sentence, while “that school they are many competition are conducted” has problems with sentence structure, agreement, and number. In “the feelings of cooperations brings,” the subject and verb do not agree. Punctuation also causes run-on sentences, as in “convincing power. If i consider.” Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, check singular and plural forms, and use full stops and commas to separate ideas.
