Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response recognises that the topic involves both competition and cooperation, and it gives a brief opinion in the conclusion: competition is “very much essential.” However, it does not adequately discuss both views as the task requires. The first body paragraph is difficult to interpret and does not explain how competition benefits people; its example about working freely, creating “funny moment[s]” and earning money without stress is unclear. The opposing paragraph refers to the “downsides to cooperate job,” so it does not clearly explain the disadvantages of competition or the case for cooperation. The position is therefore only minimally established, and relevant ideas are not sufficiently explained or supported. Develop one clear argument for each view, with a specific example, and state your position consistently.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Transitions such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclusion” signal the intended structure. However, the ideas do not progress clearly within the paragraphs: the opening shifts between school, daily life and work without establishing the precise issue, while the first body paragraph moves from analysing the topic to social effects and then to an unclear example. References such as “it” and “this” have no consistently clear antecedent, making connections difficult to follow. The conclusion repeats the general claim rather than drawing together the two views. Use topic sentences that identify each side and connect each explanation directly to that claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response attempts some topic-related vocabulary, including “merits,” “drawbacks,” “social factors” and “harmful effect,” and uses signposting phrases to introduce contrasting points. However, the vocabulary is often basic, repetitive or inaccurately selected, which makes several ideas hard to understand. Phrases such as “a plays vital role,” “cooperate job” and “creating some funny moment” do not express the intended meaning naturally. Spelling errors, including “eassy,” “weather,” “soiciety” and “multipule,” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of terms for the task—such as competition, cooperation, teamwork and individual achievement—and check spelling and collocations. This would help communicate the arguments more clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts a few longer structures, including “there are some people who think…” and “as it has several harmful effect…,” but most sentences rely on simple patterns, and errors frequently make the meaning unclear. For example, “At the present time school and daily life at work has been very common think” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “it is believed by many people that has lots of merits” is missing a subject after “that.” There are also problems with agreement and sentence boundaries, as in “it creat social problem,” and inconsistent capitalisation of “i.” Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check agreement, articles and punctuation. A few accurate complex sentences would improve range as well as clarity.
