Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is widely believed that competition in daily lives of individuals is a positive thing ,while others think that cooperation is more impotant than competition.Although cooperation is also very imprtant thing at workplace,I believe that competition is more benefcial in terms of personal and social developement .

On the one hand, competition is very important as it provides chance to workers to polish their skills further to stand againt other strong competitives. In the competition employees try to increase their working skills to the next level, which not give only improve their previous knowledge but also give them a chance to explore the new concepts.Competitions are not for just only about win or loose, they indicate the weak areas of workers knowledge and skills ,which is actually more important in long term career developement.

On the other hand, cooperation at work is also very important as it improves the output quality of work. When one task is divided among different speciallists ,there are less chances of faults in the final product.Furthermore, wokers learn how to achieve the desired results through teamwork and learn important skills like collaboration, mutual understanding and teamwork. For instance, in tesla the manufacturing process of new cars is divided among speciallists of each category like echectrical , mechanical and mechatronics majors. As a result ,the product final output quality is very good.

Overall, it is undeniable that cooperation at work is very impotant for overall developement of the organization, but I strongly believe that competition is more important as it improves the workers skills and tells them that in which areas of their work they need improvement for further career growth.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both sides of the question and state a clear preference for competition in the introduction and conclusion. The discussion of competition is relevant, especially the point that it can reveal workers’ weaker skills and encourage career development. You also explain how cooperation can improve the quality of a shared task and give a relevant Tesla manufacturing example. However, the two views are not developed equally: the cooperation paragraph focuses mainly on workplace production, while the task also asks about school and daily life. Some claims, such as competition being more important for personal and social development, would benefit from a specific example and fuller explanation. This covers the task well overall, but fuller development and support are still needed for a more complete response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your position. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “Overall” helps readers follow the argument. Ideas within each paragraph generally progress logically, and the Tesla example supports the point about teamwork. At times, however, connections between sentences are mechanical or unclear. For example, “which not give only improve their previous knowledge” makes the relationship between the ideas difficult to follow, and the conclusion repeats points from the introduction without adding a final implication. Use clearer sentence links and ensure each example is explicitly tied to the claim it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “polish their skills,” “final product,” “teamwork,” and “mutual understanding,” and you attempt more specific terms such as “manufacturing process” and “career development.” However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are noticeable, including “impotant,” “benefcial,” “developement,” “speciallists,” and “echectrical.” Some collocations are also awkward, such as “stand against other strong competitives” and “the product final output quality.” These choices sometimes make the reader pause, even though the main meaning is usually recoverable. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common word partnerships, rather than relying on direct translations or unusual forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a concession in the introduction (“Although cooperation…”) and a conditional-style explanation beginning “When one task is divided…”. The overall meaning remains understandable, but some sentence structures are faulty. For example, “which not give only improve their previous knowledge” lacks a correctly formed verb construction, and “there are less chances of faults” has an awkward grammatical pattern. There are also issues with articles, agreement, and punctuation, such as missing spaces after commas and inconsistent spacing around punctuation. Aim to make each sentence’s subject and main verb clear, and check articles and verb forms when revising complex sentences.
