Student answer (Band 4.5)

A few people think that competition at work,at school and in daily life is a good thing.Another group of people believe that we should try to cooperate more, rather then competing against each other.Accoring to my opinion the competition is very good thing because we can learn and compete in any place any group of people and in anyother activities. Acccording to the statement the competition at work iis very help full and important because in the competiton every one want to do work fast and do the perfect work for the winnnig the competiton from others worker.Due to competiton we can learn the future difficulties and we already for the challenges so in my point of view the competioin is very good thing. The compettion in school also good because students do the hard work and always ready for the future challenges and students learn different task how they make the strategy for the winnig in competiton. The thinking ability also incrase through the competiton. The competition in daily life also most important and good for the challenging in daily life because in daily life we face every day new challenge for the survival in his life so according to my opinion. The another category people think or believe that we should try to cooperate and help with other instead to compete against with others.According to my point of view some people helps other mostly people do not help and cooperate to other peoples. So in short the competiton is good and most helpfull thing for the people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You give a clear preference for competition, explaining that it can encourage people to work hard, prepare for challenges and develop strategic thinking. These points are relevant, but the discussion of cooperation is only brief: you say that people should help one another, then suggest that most people do not, without explaining the benefits of cooperation or fairly developing this view. Several claims about competition are repeated rather than supported with a specific example. The response is also 232 words, so it is 18 words below the 250-word minimum; the 25 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To address the task more fully, develop both sides and support your opinion with a concrete example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response follows a basic sequence: it introduces the two views, discusses competition at work, school and in daily life, and then turns briefly to cooperation before concluding. This gives the reader a general sense of your position. However, the ideas are not arranged into clear paragraphs, and the long run of points makes the progression difficult to follow. Linking phrases such as “According to my point of view” and “so in short” are repeated, while some connections between ideas are unclear. For example, the move from daily-life challenges to whether people help one another is abrupt. Use separate paragraphs for the introduction, each view and the conclusion, and connect each reason to its explanation or example.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use basic vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “competition,” “cooperate,” “challenges,” “strategy” and “thinking ability,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is repetitive, with “competition” and “good” appearing many times, and some word combinations are unnatural, such as “do the perfect work” and “ready for the future challenges.” Frequent spelling errors—including “Accoring,” “competiton” and “winnig”—also weaken clarity and control. Build a wider set of accurate expressions for describing outcomes, such as motivation, teamwork and mutual support, and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would help distinguish the advantages of competition from those of cooperation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Your response mainly uses simple statements and attempts some longer sentences with “because” and “so,” but the range of sentence structures is very limited. Frequent errors in sentence formation and grammar sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “Another group of people believe” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “The competition in school also good” is missing a verb. Articles and plural forms are also often inaccurate, as in “the competition is very good thing” and “other peoples.” Punctuation is weak: several sentences run together, and full stops are missing before new ideas. Practise complete sentences with accurate articles, agreement and punctuation before adding more complex structures.
