Student answer (Band 6.0)

Now a days , some people believe that competition at work , at school and in daily life is beneficial , while other argue that people should focus more on cooperation rather than competing with one another. but I believe that cooperation is more important for achieving long-term success.

On the one hand , firstly, it encourages people to work harder and improve their skills in order to achieve their goals. when students compete with their classmates, they may become more motivated to study and perform better in examinations. similarly, competition among employees can increase productivity and encourage them to develop new ideas. for example , companies often products and services to customers. therefor, healthy competition can lead to personal and professional growth.

on other hand , cooperation is equally important because it helps people achieve common goals. by working together , individuals can share their knowledge , ideas and experiences. this can make difficult tasks easier and more effective. furthermore, cooperation develops important qualities sach as teamwork, communication and mutual understanding. for instance , students who work together on group projects can learn from each other and complete their assignment more successfully. in addition , cooperation creates a positive environment and reduces unnecessary conflicts.

In my opinion , although competition can motivate people to improve their perfomance , cooperation has greater benefits in the long run. this is because success is not always about defeating others; it is also about supporting one another and achieving shared goals

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You discuss both perspectives and state a clear view: cooperation is more important for long-term success. The competition paragraph gives relevant reasons, including motivation, improved skills and productivity, while the cooperation paragraph explains shared learning and fewer conflicts. However, some points are only briefly developed; for example, the claim that competition encourages new ideas is not illustrated clearly, and the example about companies is incomplete. The response is also 14 words below the required minimum, so it does not fully meet the task’s length requirement. To strengthen the response, develop each main point with a clearer explanation or specific example, and ensure the essay reaches the required length.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph for each view, and a conclusion that restates your opinion. Linking expressions such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” “furthermore” and “in addition” help readers follow the progression. This organisation is effective, and the main ideas are generally connected. To make cohesion more flexible and natural, avoid relying so heavily on formulaic transitions such as “firstly” and “similarly,” and use clearer links between claims and examples. For instance, the sentence about companies does not explain how its example supports the point about productivity, which interrupts the flow. Consistent paragraph-initial capitalisation and punctuation would also make the presentation smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “productivity,” “common goals,” “mutual understanding” and “long-term success.” These choices communicate the main ideas clearly, and you attempt some topic-specific language. However, several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, such as “therefor,” “sach,” and “perfomance.” The phrase “companies often products and services to customers” is also unclear because the intended action is missing or expressed incorrectly. Some wording, including “work harder” and “important qualities,” is quite general. Check spelling carefully and choose precise collocations; this will help you express the contrast between competition and cooperation more accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses such as “because it helps people achieve common goals” and “although competition can motivate people.” Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical and punctuation errors are present. For example, “while other argue” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “companies often products and services” lacks a correctly formed verb. Several sentences begin with lowercase letters after full stops, and commas are often separated from the preceding word. These issues do not generally prevent understanding, but they make the writing less controlled. Review agreement and verb forms, and proofread sentence boundaries and punctuation while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
