Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays competition is added in every field of life. Some people believed that competition at different jobs such as at school, work or in daliy life is thought to be best approach. Others argue that we should try to avoid competition and should cooperate with eachother. I will discuss both views and give my own opinion.

To begin with, people who thinks competition is best in different aspects of life from there view it has many benefits. At work competitng each other give better oppurtunity to overcome technical errors. Secondly, it is also helpful in schools. For instance, in academic carreer many students try to compete eachother for getting overall good grades. It also develops a sense of responsibility and achieving goals. Additionally, competiton plays a significant role in getting high ranked jobs because each candidate tends to perform better than others and in this way they prepapre themselves to achieve there desired job.

From others prespective, people should try to cooperate with their colleagues despite of competition. It is good in some aspects like cooperation with fellows at different places creates a relation of love and respect for other. Competiton sometimes develops feeling of rivalery for others which is a bad sign because many people often makes personal relation not good. Moreover, by cooperating eachoher is also helpful in daly life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You introduce both views and give relevant points: competition may help people improve at work and school, while cooperation can build respectful relationships and reduce rivalry. However, the response only partially fulfils the task because the discussion is brief and the examples are not sufficiently explained. Your own opinion is promised in the introduction, but the conclusion is cut off at “To conclude with my own op”, so your position is never stated. The response also falls 22 words short of the required minimum. Develop each view with a clear explanation or specific example, and finish with a direct statement of which approach you support and why.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on competition, a paragraph on cooperation, and an attempted conclusion. Signposting such as “To begin with,” “Secondly,” and “From others perspective” helps identify the sections. However, progression within the paragraphs is limited, and several points are listed rather than connected through explanation. The final sentence is incomplete, leaving the essay without a coherent ending. Some linking phrases are also used mechanically, while references such as “It” in “It is good in some aspects” are not fully clear. Build a clearer sequence by explaining how each example supports the main point, and complete the conclusion with a summary and your opinion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “competition,” “cooperate,” “responsibility,” “rivalry,” and “desired job.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main ideas, but the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the reader pause. Examples include “competition is added in every field,” “overcome technical errors,” and “creates a relation of love and respect.” Spelling errors such as “daliy,” “oppurtunity,” and “competiton” are also noticeable. Aim for more precise topic phrases and check spelling carefully; for example, describe competition as “common across many areas of life” and cooperation as “building mutual respect.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including the clause beginning “because each candidate tends to perform better than others.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction occur frequently enough to affect clarity. For example, “people who thinks” should use a plural verb, while “At work competitng each other give” has problems with both the subject and verb form. The opening also shifts from “Some people believed” to a present-day discussion, where “believe” would be more consistent. Practise building accurate subject–verb patterns first, then add subordinate clauses. Proofread for complete sentences, especially the unfinished conclusion.
