Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people believes that competetion is a good thing at workplace, at school and in daily life while others argue that individuals should cooperate more with each other instead of competing against. In my opinion, I strong believe with this view that people should communicate and cooperate with each other instead of competing against as it helps the person to believe in himself, can seek various skills, creates motivation and different opportunities. although competetion at work also helps to acheive future goals as it should be a healthy competetion against each other.
Healthy competetion at work, at school and in daily life is benefical for individuals. Person is motivated for the betterment for their lives. It also helps to gain better opportunities in future. For instance, if one person has 2% marks more compared to another person, the person who have more will be on pirioty list in company while hiring.
While, instead of competing against iwth each other, we should be more cooperative and try to help each other in any circumstances. It will help the other person to work hard in a team and can help to learn the skills within the team. Skills may be vary person to person, as by cooperation and helping, different skills can be learnt through each others help which may lead to betterment. For instance, at work if one person is expert in any software like adobe phoptoshop and he will help about usage of software, this will help to gain better experience.
In my opinion, I firmly agree that we should coopertae and help each other in any sitiuation rather than competing against as it helps the society to grow more and lead towards to the betterment of the society.
In conclusion, although many people think that competetion is a good thing at different places, but we can help and cooperate rather than competing against with each other.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and give a clear preference for cooperation, especially in the opening and final paragraphs. The discussion of competition includes a relevant example about marks and hiring, while the Photoshop example illustrates how cooperation can help people learn from one another. However, some ideas are asserted rather than fully explained: for example, the opening lists several benefits of cooperation, but the body does not clearly develop claims about self-belief or creating opportunities. The competition paragraph also focuses mainly on one hiring scenario, so its wider value is not explored. To strengthen the response, explain the consequences of each example and make the comparison between healthy competition and cooperation more balanced. The response meets the task’s length requirement; nine words copied from the prompt were excluded from the count.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. This makes the main line of argument easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “For instance,” “While,” and “In conclusion.” However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The paragraph beginning “While, instead of competing…” does not connect smoothly to the previous point, and the final opinion paragraph repeats ideas already stated in the introduction and conclusion. References such as “this” and “it” sometimes have an unclear antecedent. Improve progression by linking each example explicitly to the claim it supports and combining repeated statements into a more developed concluding position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “cooperate,” “healthy competition,” “opportunities,” “skills,” and “betterment,” so the reader can understand the main ideas. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “competing against,” “help,” and “betterment.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, including “competetion,” “benefical,” “pirioty,” and “acheive,” which reduce accuracy and polish. Some combinations are unnatural, such as “gain better opportunities” and “help about usage of software.” Build a more precise range of collocations and check spelling carefully; this will make your examples clearer and your argument more natural without changing its meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses with “while,” “as,” and “which,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “Some people believes” should use a plural verb, and “the person who have more” needs agreement between the subject and verb. The sentence beginning “In my opinion, I strong believe…” also combines clauses awkwardly, while “Skills may be vary person to person” has an incorrect verb pattern. Capitalisation after full stops is inconsistent, as in “although competetion…” after the first paragraph. Practise accurate sentence patterns and proofread each sentence for subject–verb agreement and complete clause structure.
