Student answer (Band 6.0)

This essay argues between two thoughts, some people beleive it is good to compete at educational institute and in workplace while some are in favor to cooperate and avoid comparing is more beneficial. I believe cooporation has long term benefit to society and it has more advantage and outweighs its disadvantage.

Some people beleived being in competition is beneficial because of several reasons, it encourages people to work harder in life and it motivates people to acheive more in life. In educational institute, for example students compete with each other in studies ,motivates them to achieve better grades. In this term, it develops more confidence in students and encourage them to do more. Similarly, the individuals in workplace competing with each other they increase their efficiency which ultimately get them rewards and promotions. another significant advantage is employer developed new skills and products. therefore, healthy competition can play an important role in developement of personal and professional growth.

on the other hand cooporaton is very important it helps individual to meet more people increase their network in both educational and professional places, for example in schools if both students cooperate in assignments with each other, students developed new skills they exchanged ideas amoung themselves. Furthermore, it also promotes team work and mutual understanding. Similarly in professional work place, when people cooperate with other it reduces stress and also decrease work load. Another significant advantage is if both parties works on the same product they knew their strength and weakness and help other effectively but if similar team develops jealousy and competition against each other so develops unhealthy relationships which affects employers works overall performance as well.

In conclusion, i beleive healthy competition is beneficial but also avoid unnecessary competition it leads to jealousy and envy. whereas cooperation increase person performance and efficiency and also significantly develops better skills and results.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both sides of the question and give a position: the introduction favours cooperation, while the conclusion recognises that healthy competition can also be beneficial. Relevant examples from education and workplaces support the discussion, including students sharing ideas and employees gaining efficiency or promotions. This covers the task well, but the development is uneven: the benefits of competition are explained more clearly than why cooperation produces better outcomes overall, despite that being your stated view. The point about teams becoming jealous is also difficult to follow and could be explained more precisely. To strengthen the response, make your position consistent throughout and extend each main reason with a clear explanation of its consequences or a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for competition and cooperation, and a conclusion. Sequencing expressions such as “Similarly,” “Furthermore,” and “On the other hand” help readers recognise the movement between ideas. However, some links feel mechanical, and several sentences contain multiple points without clear relationships. For example, the discussion of cooperation shifts from networking to assignments, teamwork, workload, and jealousy in quick succession. The reference in “if similar team develops jealousy” is also unclear, making the connection to the previous point hard to follow. Group related ideas more selectively, use pronouns with clear referents, and explain transitions between claims to make the progression more fluent.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “efficiency,” “promotions,” “mutual understanding,” and “unhealthy relationships,” and these choices generally make your meaning clear. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “personal and professional growth.” However, spelling errors and inaccurate or awkward word choices are noticeable, including “beleive,” “cooperation,” “acheive,” and “amoung.” Some expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “employer developed new skills and products” and “in this term.” These issues limit the precision and fluency of the vocabulary. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for work and education, such as “develop new skills,” “in this respect,” and “workplace performance.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “when,” and “if,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, complex structures are often not controlled accurately, and errors occur across the response. For example, “students compete with each other in studies, motivates them” has a faulty sentence structure, while “both parties works” and “students developed new skills” show problems with agreement and verb form. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “in educational institute” and the run-on construction beginning “Similarly, the individuals in workplace competing…”. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check agreement, tense consistency, articles, and punctuation.
