Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several important changes, including the hotel replacing the castle, the beach becoming private, and new cafés and shops. However, some locations and changes are misreported or unclear: the marina moved from the northern basin to the southern one, while fishing boats moved in the opposite direction; your account gives confusing locations for both. The extra jetty is at the dock, but it is not described as being for passenger ferries. You also omit useful features such as the added showers and toilets near the southern marina and the unchanged north-eastern public beach. A clearer overview and more accurate selection of the main changes would make the summary more complete and precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has an opening, an overview, and a paragraph of details, so there is some basic organisation. The overview also signals that the harbour has changed substantially. However, the details are crowded into one long paragraph and do not follow a clear spatial or comparative order. Linking is limited, and the sequence from the hotel to facilities, the marina, and fishing boats is difficult to follow. Phrases such as “this marina” and “it” have unclear references, while “one more” is repeated. Group the changes by area or by what was replaced, and use clear comparisons such as “whereas” or “by contrast” to guide the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “private beach,” “car parking,” “marina,” and “passenger ferries,” and you attempt to describe change with phrases such as “is built” and “is introduced.” However, word choice and spelling errors are frequent enough to make some details difficult to understand. Examples include “establishmnet,” “parth harbour,” “deck” for the added jetty, and “privated” for the beach’s new status. Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “increased in a number of docks” and “east west of porth habour.” Use accurate labels from the map and practise collocations such as “the marina was relocated” and “an additional jetty was added.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
There is an attempt to use both simple statements and longer sentences to compare the plans, but control is inconsistent. Errors in agreement and verb forms appear in “There is a considerable changes” and “one more shower and toilets facility is builted.” Articles and sentence boundaries are also problematic: “A new hotel is built in south east” needs clearer grammatical framing, and several sentences begin with lowercase letters after full stops. The final sentence combines multiple ideas without a clear structure, making the locations hard to interpret. Practise accurate past and present passive forms, agreement, and shorter sentences that express one change at a time; this will make your comparisons easier to follow.
