The plans below show a harbour in 2000 and how it looks today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

 

Student answer (Band 7.0)

The given pictures depicts the modification in the plan of Porth harbour in present as compare with its plan in 2000.

Overall, the plan of porth harbour changed dramatically in present and an array of new places are added such as; hotel, cafes and shops for enhancing public facilities.

To begin with, in 2000, there was only one site for dock area, before its capacity increased by double area in present. Further, there was an unused castle towards the south-east side of harbour in 2000, which is replaced by a hotel today. Moreover, in present, the beach has private access for hotel customers only, while it was open for local public in 2000.

Explaining further, the positions of fishing boats and marina, the area for private yachts, are interchanged with each other in present map of harbour. In addition, there are some shops and cafes constructed between the marina and lifeboat areas. The positions of rest of the amenities like showers, toilets, car park and lifeboats remained similar in both the plans.
