Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarize the main features of the harbour plans, but it lacks clarity and precision. While you identify some changes, such as the conversion of the beach into hotels and the addition of a dock, the description is often confusing. For instance, the statement 'marine private replace into northrn to southern pole' is unclear and does not accurately reflect the visual information. Furthermore, the overview is poorly structured and does not effectively highlight the most significant trends or transformations. To improve, ensure you clearly group information by theme or area and provide a more coherent summary of the overall changes rather than listing details in a disjointed manner.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a logical flow, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the two time periods. Paragraphing is ineffective; the text is essentially a series of loosely connected sentences rather than a cohesive report. While you use some linking words like 'on the other hand' and 'although', they are often used incorrectly or do not logically connect the ideas. The referencing is also weak, with phrases like 'in there geographical situations' and 'this are the major changes' causing confusion. A more structured approach, with a clear introduction, a distinct overview, and separate paragraphs for different areas of the harbour, is necessary for a higher score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and frequently inaccurate, which hinders the clarity of your report. There are numerous errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'porth' instead of 'port', 'yanchts' instead of 'yachts', and 'hoteling' instead of 'hotel development'. You also rely on repetitive and imprecise language, such as 'change in' or 'accupied'. To reach a higher band, you need to use a wider range of vocabulary related to describing maps and changes, such as 'transformed', 'converted', 'relocated', or 'expanded'. Additionally, focus on correct spelling and collocations to ensure your writing sounds more professional and accurate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'The plan show' and 'car park have their own space'. Sentence structure is often fragmented or run-on, making it hard to identify the main clauses. Punctuation is also problematic, with missing commas and incorrect capitalization throughout the text. There is very little evidence of complex sentence structures, and the simple sentences used are often grammatically flawed. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subjects and verbs agree, and using articles and prepositions correctly.
