Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response attempts to describe the changes between the two maps, but it fails to provide a clear overview or a logical summary of the main features. While some changes are mentioned, such as the conversion of the castle into a hotel and the addition of facilities, the information is presented in a fragmented and confusing manner. The description lacks precision, and the failure to clearly distinguish between the two time periods makes it difficult for the reader to follow the development of the harbour. The response does not adequately highlight the most significant changes, resulting in a superficial summary that does not fully meet the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The response lacks a clear logical progression. It is written as a series of disjointed sentences rather than a cohesive report. There is a lack of paragraphing, and the use of cohesive devices is almost non-existent, making the text difficult to navigate. Phrases like 'In old map' and 'Now a days' are used repetitively and mechanically without effectively linking ideas. The overall structure is weak, and the lack of clear transitions between the description of the past and the present significantly hinders the flow of information.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and often inaccurate. The student relies on basic, repetitive language such as 'map', 'old', and 'new', and struggles to find appropriate terms for the features shown (e.g., 'not too much facility', 'make cafeteria'). There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'in this days' and 'in ancient', which impede the clarity of the message. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe the visual information with any degree of precision or sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent and severe grammatical errors that often obscure the intended meaning. There is a lack of control over basic sentence structures, with many sentences being ungrammatical or fragmented, such as 'In first map whose has twenty six year ago is not too much facility'. Subject-verb agreement, tense usage, and prepositional errors are pervasive throughout the text. There is no evidence of complex sentence structures, and the persistent errors make the text difficult to read and understand.
