Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to describe the changes in the harbour, but it fails to provide a clear overview or a logical summary of the main features. While some details are mentioned, the description is fragmented and lacks a professional, analytical tone. The comparison between the two time periods is confusing, and the student struggles to clearly distinguish between the layout in 2000 and the current layout. Key features are mentioned, but the lack of a structured approach to reporting data makes it difficult for the reader to follow the evolution of the harbour. The response lacks a clear summary of the most significant changes, such as the addition of commercial facilities.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the internal structure is weak. The use of cohesive devices is repetitive and often misused, such as the frequent use of 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand', which do not logically connect the ideas presented. The progression of information is disjointed, making it hard to track the spatial layout of the harbour. Referencing is often unclear, particularly when describing specific locations like 'the next one' or 'in front of parking', which lacks sufficient context for the reader to visualize the map accurately.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'small change', 'area', and 'parking'. There are several spelling errors, such as 'yatch' instead of 'yacht', 'SShowera', and 'shopes'. The student struggles to use precise terminology to describe the harbour features, such as 'dock' or 'facilities'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information with the necessary precision required for an Academic Task 1 response. The language is often informal and lacks the academic register expected in this task.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('there are many features but as we compare... their are more facilities'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are poorly constructed, leading to confusion, such as 'the provided picture compare the contrast'. The use of complex structures is attempted but usually results in errors, such as 'wheather in 2000 ther is only one yatch and now there is increae with 2 number'. Punctuation is also inconsistent throughout the text.
