Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under-length, containing only 112 words against the required 150-word minimum, which severely impacts the development of the task. While the student attempts to highlight a few key changes—such as the conversion of the disused castle into a hotel, the addition of a third dock, and the rearrangement of the marina and fishing boats—the overview is extremely brief and lacks comprehensive coverage of the visual data. Key developments, such as the addition of new parking lots, cafés and shops, and the change to the beach status, are either omitted or only superficially mentioned. Consequently, the response addresses the prompt only partially and fails to meet the basic length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5
The text suffers from a lack of proper paragraphing, presented mostly as a single block of disconnected sentences. While there are basic attempts at cohesive devices such as 'while talking about' and 'in addition', the overall logical progression is weak and disjointed. Referencing is frequently unclear, and the mechanical flow makes it difficult to follow the comparison between the two maps. There is no clear structure separating an introduction, overview, and detailed body paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is very basic and contains numerous spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text. Examples include 'comaritive' for comparative, 'dia gram' for diagram, 'pacenger' for passenger, 'aboundent' for disused/abandoned, 'cafiterias' for cafés, and 'vise virsa' for vice versa. These frequent errors and misspellings place a heavy burden on the reader and reflect a limited lexical range that is inadequate for a standard academic task.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The grammatical structures attempted are very limited and heavily flawed. The text contains persistent errors in punctuation, capitalization, and sentence construction, such as starting sentences with lowercase letters ('the dia gram depicts...') and producing ungrammatical clauses ('now showers and toilets lot has been made by parking lot on s side'). Complex structures are rarely attempted accurately, and frequent grammatical errors impede smooth communication.
