IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show a harbour in 2000 and how it looks today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given pictures illustrate the modernization of Porth Harbour since 2000 to today. The harbour comprises of various areas for instance showers and toilets, car park, marina & fishing boats section, docks for passenger ferries and public beach.

Commencing with the year 2000, private yacht area called Marina was in the west side to the docks. However, today it has been shifted to the southern corner. Fishing boats were available in the opposite direction to the docks but nowadays they are beside them. Earlier, only one dock was there while we can count to two at present. An ancient castle of no use was there in the south-east corner and everyone can use the beach freely over there.

However, nowadays that abandoned castle has been rebuilted into a hotel which provides private beach to the hotel personnels only. Additionally, cafe's and shops have been introduced along the roadside and between the way towards the hotel. The public beach has been concised to the east wing. Also. in the south, showers and toilets are constructed for facilitation.
