Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, as it contains only 147 words after excluding copied rubric text. Furthermore, the handling of the task is extremely minimal. Rather than providing a proper overview and structured comparison of the main features shown in the maps of Porth Harbour in 2000 and today, the writer merely lists fragmented observations, such as mentioning the cafes and shops, the hotel replacing the disused castle, and the expansion of the car park. Key spatial changes, such as the swapping of the marina and fishing boats, are not clearly reported, resulting in an inadequate coverage of the visual data.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

The response lacks a clear logical progression and overall organization. Instead of coherent paragraphs that systematically contrast the two time periods, the text consists of disjointed groupings of ideas. Basic cohesive devices are either missing or misused, and referencing between sentences is weak. For instance, jumping abruptly from describing the 2000 layout to today's image with phrases like 'In the second image shows porth harbour today' creates confusion. Paragraphing is poorly handled, as the response is split into haphazard blocks of text rather than a structured introduction, overview, and body paragraphs.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

Vocabulary is very basic, repetitive, and strained. The writer relies heavily on simple words directly copied from the prompt or visual labels, such as 'beach', 'car park', 'toilets & showers', and 'lifeboat'. There are numerous word choice and word formation inaccuracies, such as 'castle diused', 'carparking', and 'soo many visit'. These limitations mean the student can only express basic ideas, and the lack of a sufficient lexical range prevents any precise reporting or sophisticated paraphrasing of the provided diagram.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

Grammatical control is extremely weak throughout the response. There is a total absence of complex sentence structures, and the simple sentences attempted are frequently fragmented or grammatically malformed, such as 'In this plans below show a harbour in 2000 and Today .' and 'In the first image shows porth harbour in 2000 main road right side...'. Errors are frequent across verb forms, tense usage, prepositions, and punctuation. Run-on sentences joined improperly by commas are common, and these persistent errors frequently impede communication and obscure the intended meaning.
