Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the two time periods and mention several relevant features, including the beach, marina, fishing boats, car parks and the hotel replacing the castle. However, the comparison is only minimally developed, and some details are inaccurate or unclear. For example, the public beach in the north-east remains public; it is the southern beach that becomes private for the hotel. The response also says a passenger ferry was added, whereas the plan shows an additional jetty and two boats at the dock, and it does not explain the relocation of the marina and fishing-boat areas clearly. A more accurate overview of the main changes, followed by specific comparisons of the two plans, would make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, an attempted overview, and separate descriptions of 2000 and today. This gives the reader some sense of the time sequence. However, there is no clear progression within the paragraphs, and many details are joined in long strings with repeated “and” or commas. The overview also repeats that the maps show changes without identifying the most important ones. References such as “those map” and “which is connected on big castel area” make relationships difficult to follow. Organise the information by major changes—for example, harbour facilities, transport, and the southern shore—and use clear linking phrases to show what was relocated, added, or replaced.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “public beach,” “passenger ferries,” “Marina,” “main road,” and “car park,” so the reader can recognise several features. However, the range is basic and repetitive, and frequent spelling errors make key terms difficult to identify, such as “feeries,” “tilate,” “Castale,” and “hottel.” Some word choices are also imprecise: “big” does not describe the changes clearly, while “connected” is repeatedly used where you mean located beside or moved to. Build a more accurate set of map-description verbs and nouns, and check spelling carefully. This would help you report the plan’s features with greater precision and reduce strain on the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The response relies mainly on simple clauses, with limited control of more varied sentence structures. Errors are frequent and sometimes obscure the intended meaning. For example, “The given plane illustrate” has subject–verb disagreement, and “there are tow map which is in 2000 and now” has problems with number and clause structure. Tense and sentence construction are also inconsistent in “And todays porth Harbour are developed many things.” Commas often join separate ideas, as in the long description beginning “In 2000, we can see the area was big.” Practise accurate present and past forms for describing plans, plural agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries. Shorter, complete sentences would make the comparisons clearer.
