Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several important changes, including the relocation of the marina and fishing boats, the addition of cafés and shops, and the conversion of the castle into a hotel. However, the overview is not fully accurate: it claims that passenger ferries increased, and the final sentence says their number rose from two to three, whereas the plan shows two boats at the dock today and does not establish that comparison. The response also misses other notable changes, such as the extra jetty and the added showers and toilets near the marina. The description of the beach becoming restricted to hotel guests is relevant, but some details are repeated rather than developed. The response is three words below the required minimum. A more complete, accurate overview and fuller coverage of the main changes would strengthen the report.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing changes. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “as compared from 2000 to today” signal a comparison. However, the progression is not consistently clear. The overview combines unrelated claims about ferries, facilities and the hotel, while the final paragraph repeats the hotel and beach change already mentioned. Linking is also limited, and “There are few changes occur” does not clearly introduce the details that follow. Grouping the changes by location or by type, then using clear transitions such as “In the northern basin” and “Meanwhile, in the south,” would make the information easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “marina,” “fishing boats,” “converted,” and “private beach,” so the reader can identify the main features being discussed. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “the development occur,” “the ratio of passenger ferries,” and “hotelprivate beach.” Spelling errors, including “schemetic” and “informantion,” also reduce the accuracy of the report. Repetition of “area,” “beach,” and “hotel” limits variety. Aim for precise map-description language, such as “was relocated,” “was added,” and “the beach became private,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and more complex sentences, including “The area of marina private yachts and fishing boats replaced each others location as compared from 2000 to today.” However, many sentences contain errors in verb forms, agreement, articles or sentence construction, which sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “There are few changes occur” needs a corrected verb pattern, and “a new building … build” has an incorrect verb form. In “there is a cafes and shops present,” the subject and verb do not agree. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and full stops. Practise accurate past-tense descriptions and build longer sentences from a clear subject and verb.
